I remembered this (I also love the Carol of the Bells), and stumbled across this today:

according to the artist, the song is based on a Ukranian folk chant (that has nothing to do with Christmas lol)...you can read the blip about it in the details part under the song.

I knew it had another title, something like the Ukrainian song, but I don't recall coming across those additional details, so now to do some more reading up - thanks again!
