That brings us to 28 Flamekeepers, which is a new record! We've had 26 or 27 members a number of times in our history, but only for brief periods, and I've been feeling very excited the last few months, when we had 26/27 right after the annual check-in (usually post-check-in we're just at, or one or two over, the 19 needed to fill all the shifts), and maintained that level.

Welcome to the Cill, maybeimawitch (and that's a welcome no more and no less warm than I give every new member, whether they set a new record or not:))!

Whew, I am very late getting to this, this cycle... and I'd particularly wanted to be prompt, too:ashamed:.

Cauldron Cill Roster
Jun 20 - Jul 9

01. Jun 20: Aster Breo
02. Jun 21: Stephy
03. Jun 22: Ali, Siannan
04. Jun 23: Micheál, maybeimawitch
05. Jun 24: Garnet
06. Jun 25: Mandrina
07. Jun 26: Karen, Thorsvin
08. Jun 27: Juni
09. Jun 28: SatAset, Emerald
10. Jun 29: Finn
11. Jun 30: Nykti, darkwhispersdale
12. Jul 1: Sunflower, Kira
13. Jul 2: Morag, Kelly
14. Jul 3: Danny, Xayna
15. Jul 4: Rocquelaire
16. Jul 5: Caroline
17. Jul 6: Angie, Gilbride
18. Jul 7: Chatelaine
19. Jul 8: Kelly Ann
20. Jul 9: The Lady

And the reason I particularly wanted to be prompt was, the Solstice falls right at the very beginning of this cycle, 2304 hrs 20 Jun MDT/0504 hrs 21 Jun UT/1704 hrs 21 Jun NZST). So here's Group Keeping coming up in just a couple of days - from sunset on 20 Jun to sunset on 21 Jun, your local time.

Emerald, the time of the solstice may fall after sunset on Jun 21 for you - I can't tell for sure since I don't know exactly where in NZ you are, and the difference is a matter of minutes. (The Sunrise Sunset Calendars website tells me that, for Wellington, sunset on the 21st will be at 1658 hrs, six minutes before the solstice time. That site also has info for half a dozen other NZ cities, but not on the front page; you have to click 'Predefined Locations' and then use the dropdown menu, or if you know your latitude and longitude, at the bottom of that page there's a link to a Custom Location Entry page.) If it is after sunset, GK for you would be 21-22 Jun. (It's not always going to be this complicated; solstice/equinox times are all over the clock, so next time it'll coincide with someone else's sunset, or with no one's.)

Is there anything I should know about group keeping? like shared liturgy or anything?

We've talked a bit about the possibility of shared liturgy, but it's never really gone anywhere.

The main thing to know is that it's not obligatory - you can join in the keeping for the whole shift, or part of it, or not at all.

Can I ask, was it decided not to do a shared liturgy for some reason? Or is it just that no-one has had the spoons to take the lead on something like this so far?

I love the idea of doing something like this.

I'll try to join in the groupkeeping, but I'll probably be doing other stuff too. I've already put it in my schedule, so that I won't forget it.

Mostly, it's that discussion just sort of petered out (you might be able to find the thread, or threads - I don't recall if it came up more than once, or if it stayed in one thread or spread across two or three - on the archive board).

Hmm... I have a dim memory of some liturgical project that went beyond just batting the idea around casually, and into projectlike planning; it might have been this. Or not.

... And I just took a look myself on the archive board, and, it'd be in the Cill Projects thread - it's not shared liturgy for Group Keeping, but for passing the flame at the start and end of shifts, and it got all the way to having proposed liturgy, which several people said they really liked and no one said they disliked but that even more people didn't say anything about at all, so it didn't quite make it to definitely determining that we were going to use it.

I should probably start a thread here on the current forum, linking back to that, to re-start discussion... when I have a spare spoon.

Just confirming that someone else (maybeimawitch, IIRC) is covering this shift for me.   I'm leaving for Hawaii early on the morning of July 31.  They tend to frown on flames in airplanes.  ;-)

Thanks!
