Ehoah, anyone?
« on: July 25, 2014, 08:32:54 pm »
Has anyone ever heard of Ehoah? I bumped into it for the first time today, and I was wondering how well known, well regarded, well developed, and widespread it may or may not be.

The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

News to me.  I've heard of Reformed Druidism, but not this 'offshoot'.

I'm curious about the origin of the word 'ehoah,' if it's not a created term.  I thought it was Hebrew at first.

Interesting though.  Bookmarked for later.

From reading the site and also around the Net, it appears to be an eclectic set of ideas/beliefs that this person put together and now hopes to make it into a large recognized religion/belief system.

Even got a Tartan:

A tartan?? OK...maybe the founder is of Scottish ancestry. Or something.

New one on me, too. So, 'not very' for how well-known and widespread it is.

I've a nasty cold and feel jaded and cynical about everything as a result, so my opinion about how well-developed and regard-worthy it might be is rather meaningless at the moment.

The creator, Rua Lupa, made it up.

Having more time today I did a larger search. As far as I can see it really is just a very diverse array of interests that the 'founder', Rua Lupa cobbled together in an attempt to make a coherent system. It seems very a much a work in progress. My only twitch (O.K., I may have smiled at the Tartan) is this:

"The founder, Rua Lupa, is Metis, meaning someone who has mixed ancestry of First Nations (Indigenous Peoples in Canada) and Europeans. Through learning the traditions of these cultures and studying the philosophy and practices of others Rua did what most historical Metis did, combined what was found to be most valuable in each for themselves to live by and practice. This tradition and practice was called Ehoah and it came to mean "complete harmony within Nature."

No, most Metis, historical(?) or otherwise did not, could not, have a 'tradition' and practice of a system this person made up and/or call it her made-up word 'Ehoah'. I think I tend to over-react because simple linguistic twists can turn something into a declaration of fact which might confuse a first-time reader. It's no big, I just don't like misleading remarks such as the above.

She seems to be an earnest person in her beliefs and desire to share them with others but is very much a mag-pie and I find the clutter ( re-worked fung shui compasses and a random BBC article on sleep) confusing.

... Except that the process took decades if not centuries, and each community could oftem be radically different from another. It wasn't really that conscious to go "Ma does this and Pa does that so I'm going to combine them to do this because NATURE" y'know?

I'm assuming that the tense is a little off in the last sentence and that the word is her own creation and not from any language a Metis person can/did speak. Because it most certainly isn't.

Plus yes Metis people are a blending of indigenous and European peoples, but we are our own nation, our own people outside of "half-breed".

This is the first I've heard of it.
