1st Full Moon Ritual
« on: February 07, 2012, 02:59:56 pm »
I'm somewhat at a loss as to what to do for my first full moon ritual. Here's what I have to my disposal...a lavendar jar candle, goddess tarot app on my phone, annointing oil(can't use smudge sticks around the house), and a very tiny space in which to do anything.
I live at home with the parents who are conservative Christians so anything overly elaborate is out of the question. Even many simple things are out as well. I was thinking that I could simply light the candle, dab some annointing oil on my head, and meditate, maybe stand outside for a few minutes if I can manage it, and just be thankful for some recent events.
Is this time something that I can just be thankful for? Is this ok? I'm not working any specific deities just doing some simple observations.

You and I are in kind of the same boat (my parents don't know about my spirituality) and I too am looking to do a simple moon ritual. What are you doing the ritual for? If I were you, I would do what you said. Light a candle and simply bask in the energy and (assumed) happiness from the recent events. Let it fill you up.

I say of course you can be thankful. It's your life and if it's going well then great! If you've hit rough times then may they be short. I feel like the full moon is a time to celebrate.

Please tell me how all this goes! (By the way, I haven't actually preformed a moon ritual before, above is just my take on what you said. I am planning on doing one soon though)

Another thing I want to work towards (this is extremely long term) is get good enough at visualization that I create sort of an inner alter, temple, place to visit and do rituals, feel energy, rejuvenate ect. This way I can do it anywhere and people will think I'm asleep or just resting. I feel like it would be especially useful while traveling.

Sorry for the little rant there.

Best of luck with you moon ritual!

you can simply light the candle for the moon, ask the moon to be present,or present your self to the moon, maybe you could do a reading with the cards.
usually I do moon rituals with two things in mind. either it's a simple honoring or thanking the moon. wherein I give an offering (milk honey incense are good for that) and or read poems etc. to the moon.
the second thing I use a full moon ritual for is to ask for assistance with some spell workings, using the moons influence and energy. (next full moon I would do my thank you).
a simple thing you can also do is leave your crystals and stones(if you have any) on your window sill in view of the moon to absorb its energy, and also create moon water by leaving a glass of it out to absorb the moons energy and soak in its light.

non of those are very obvious.
perhaps you can ask to go for a walk in the evening and in a spot you choose leave a little pile of white rocks and do your "basking" there, leave a bit of offering there if you want or a tea light candle to burn down on the side walk.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. I guess that's okay. The post below yours had some good suggestions which I think I will use.

I like those suggestions. All of my stuff was lost when my car was totalled and when my parents did a clean sweep of the house. I could definitely get some stones again though and let those soak in the moonlight. Going for a walk at night is difficult because we live in the country and there are wild dogs about...so not very safe. No one would notice the rocks though.
