This made me so mad when I read it. What planet is this guy on?:mad:

As a borderline animal rights activist (I'm vegan, a kitten foster parent and an animal shelter volunteer) I'm horrified that he would say something so detrimental to our cause.  It would be like a pro-lifer saying that Norway is nothing compared to the number of fetuses aborted every day or whatever, which might be true from their perspective, but which is just abhorrent and alienating to anyone they're hoping to convert.  I love that Morrissey is for animal rights and welfare, but this is absolutely the wrong way to do it.  Boo.

I'm going to increase my beef consumption 20% this week in response to this stupidity.

I agree it's stupid, but I'd not buy his music or concert tickets, or something like that, that would hit him harder than anything else.

or are we increasing a 0 beef consumption by 20%.  :)

Agreed...    I completely disagree with his comments..... except the last line...

" He should be un-named, not photographed, and quietly led away."

Seems to me that would be a fitting end for anyone who does such horrible things, rather than the three ring circus, complete with high wire, that the media  brings to town with each New news story.

I absolutely, wholeheartedly agree with this one part - the last paragraph of the article.  Which is a little disturbing, considering how disgusted I was with the rest of his statement.

This is outrageous, even for those of us who have had 20+ years to get used to Morrissey.

Gods, when I was a teenager I loved this guy.  *hangs head in shame*

I was being flippant, more than anything. My beef consumption is already pretty high.
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

At least you get a choice about your beef consumption.  It's a union contract item as to how many times a week beef has to be on the menu in my industry.  Even if the union wanted to reduce it to almost zero, the US govt mandates a certain amount of beef per month be served.

The govt did it in 1915, to ensure that we got at least some beef every week. We have to be served it on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  At the time I presume there were ships that never served beef or anyother meat.  Thnik red beans and rice, poriddge and such for months on end.

It also mandated a box of matches per week per man.

Do you still get the matches, too?

Now a days they are just put out in the lounges for people to take.  Until the early 1980's Texaco tankers used to put one box a week on each bunk when the linen was changed.

I suddenly feel the need to go out and kill something and eat it.
