Perhaps he goes wherever the highways do?  I'd imagine that a being associated with roads and cars would be likely to travel away from his area of origin along whatever routes are available.

Route 66 is so well-known that it might make sense to identify with that road as an idea, if not as that specific territory. If I start listing off numbers like 93, 95, 128, you'll think of highways if you're from Boston. But I think 66 has that association everywhere in the U.S., especially given the popularity of the song.

And of course, "(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66" is one of the most covered songs. I've got at least six versions in my collection, and Wikipedia lists over fifty. Something about it speaks to a lot of people.

Just hangin' this here:

So now I feel like I'm working with two distinct spirits--Route 66 and his surrounding territory and the spirit of The Road and their surrounding territory, Americana.

This is getting weirder and weirder and I love it.

The Road is pretty androgynous, and I get the feeling of restless travel and dirt and grime--cheap motels and dusk on the road, headlights stretching onward to infinity. Likes AC/DC.

Route 66 is still as I described. More down-to-earth and less mystical-feeling than The Road. More of a blues fellow. Johnny Cash and the like.

I feel like both could appreciate Zeppelin.

I couldn't help myself I've been researching stuff. There seems to be a lot of entities associated with route 66. They are mostly ghost stories.

Ghost stories are good! I've been looking through the site Sunflower linked me to and I might have to go look up the ghost stories now! :)

Count me in! ;) I've had the travel bug for a month.

I feel like a bunch of TC regulars on a bus together would be chaotic.

And suddenly, no apparent reason whatsoever that I can think of that might be related to this thread, I have the song "Crazy Train" in my head. :whis:

I got super busy last week but I did look in the data base at work to see if there were any mentions of a deity that sounded similar and again came up with a lot of ghost stories.

Ooh, cool. Thanks so much for looking.

Were there any stories that seemed significant? Anything at this point helps.

...I get to build a new system for working magic now. :yikes:
