If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

How reverent are you?

So, how reverent are you toward the gods? I tend to be pretty rude, but my god finds it funny so it's all good. What about you guys?

My gods do not demand verbal reverence, so I've called them all sorts of silly names at times. They are, in general, very big on being melodramatic and over-the-top, and they recognize how silly it seems at times. So I call them sassy names and cosplay them for costume parties.

That said, I've definitely been in awe of them at times, and I do my best to express that with poetry and prose, which could be said to be a form of reverence too.

It depends on the circumstances. In church I'm very serious and reverent. But one of the vibes I catch is, "Throne room behavior belongs in the throne room." When in a casual setting, I'm comfortable being casual . . . and, believe me, they give it as good as they take it....

I'm fairly reverential, even though my gods are metaphors for forces too big for easy comprehension--or maybe *because* of that. When I find myself awed by the natural world--the full moon rising I saw tonight, or the spectacle of a spring male Blackburnian Warbler--I find myself reaching for those metaphors as a means of expressing what I'm feeling. So when I'm most in touch with my gods, I'm usually approaching them from a sense of awe.
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

It depends on which ones.   Some of them are more encouraging of informality than others.  I don't think I have it in me to do the very flowery reverence that some people seem to do, though, so ones who would demand that probably don't talk to me.

I tend to be very reverential and worshipful toward Jesus and the angels and saints and other entities I honor, all of which I consider particular instantiations of the All and thus the Divine.  I use special language in addressing them, certain gestures.  But none of this feels like kissing ass, either, and it is never driven by fear of God or a command that I must do these things.  It is love, it is adoration, it is reverence -- but it also feels like a very special and intimate friendship, an expression of closeness and fondness.  It's like being in love.  And I consider myself to be an equal to them, a companion, and in some rituals when I use such language and gestures I am actually reverencing myself as well.

That's beautiful. In my case, Ill swear at God and use all sorts of obscene language that I never would with a person- but it's a weird form of endearment. Sort of like "I couldn't call anyone else this but I can say it to You because I know You get it."

Well, I mean, I'd need to know what you mean by "reverent".

Do you have good manners, talk to them very much like you would an "important" person, call them by titles, etc.

I... am mostly reminded that one of the actual ancient attested titles for the Dagda is, when translated from the Irish, "Shithead".

Although my religious affiliation shifts hourly as a general rule, it is consistently reverent in an orthodox fashion. I am deeply and thoroughly uncomfortable with levity in actual religious practice.

I generally tend to view Deity (and the natural world in general) with a sense of wonder.  Doesn't mean I can't be irreverent in a devotional setting.  Whether in church or in circle I've been known to join the refrains of "amen" or "smib" with a "baaaa."  (The Lord is my Shepherd, right?)

Nobody else thinks it's funny.
So. Autocorrect thinks I really like ducks.

I address God (the entire Trinity, actually) as Father or Lord and the Virgin as Mother or Holiest, and treat them accordingly; that is, not the same as Ma and Pa. I'm certainly not on first-name terms with them. I get more leeway with saints and angels, but they're still older siblings. :P

I'm sort of reverent. I try to approach them with politeness, but also keep it me (i.e casual). I do use titles sometimes in prayer, but not always... and some titles are very personal to me.

Our gods are quite fearsome, only a few seem to have much humor when in reference to themselves. So I am fairly reverent when it comes to my gods. Their wrath is not something to seek, not by a long shot.
