Heathen Banishing Ritual

I'm curious to know of some. I've had a lot of spiritual contact throughout my life and not all have been good.

This made me burst out laughing, because the first image in my head was that of a angry stereotypical Viking bellowing at unseen spirits. I can't remember where I read it now (I'm searching), but I recall they had a very literal practice of shouting directly at the spirits or bad spells to scare them away?

The níðstang (nithing pole) comes to mind. It was used to curse, but it could probably be used to similar effect to scare a curse in the other direction.

A similar possibility is something like the Bryggen runic inscriptions, which were mostly on wood. Some seemed to be for practical messages, but some appear to be amulets. (I like that some of them appear to be flirting, lol. Dirty Vikings.)

Other than that, I personally use a lot of spae-wife type folk-magic for my home life, left over from related areas of Northern Europe. It's not exactly the same, perhaps, but it's likely to have been similar.

I can't recall a source for this, but I remember reading that a five pointed star was considered a potent wight-banishing symbol.

This song may also help. http://www.odins-gift.com/poth/recent/anglosaxonhallowingcharm.htm

And I laughed because the subject line of this thread made me think the OP was looking for a ritual for banishing heathens.  :p

Those heathen infestations can be so hard to get rid of... ;)

That is recommended a lot to just take the house back and be boss as the living. Bind runes, hex signs come to mind. Herbs like Mugwort and Nettle have been used to purify and keep evil away.

Banishing of what? In which context?

I only wish to banish those who've to do me harm, malevolent spirits. What they are exactly i do not know. Sorry for not being able to clarify much better.
