Feng Shui Approach to Altar Set Up -- Part II

Feng Shui Approach to Altar Set Up -- Part II

First of all, I brought up the subject of Feng Shui and altar setup, and I have introduced Feng Shui in one of my previous articles.  For those of you who heard about Feng Shui for the first time, it is a branch of geomancy Metaphysics, and it is about arranging environmental factors, which bring out the most positive energy from your environment.  In addition, Feng Shui is not to be mistaken for religion, because it has no center deities for worship, but Feng Shui does borrow many philosophical ideas and ritual aspects from various religions including but not limited to Taoism, Buddhism, and folk beliefs.

Viewing from Feng Shui's perspectives, an altar or shrine is a spiritual energy generating source. Anyone who live in the house where this altar is created will be impacted.   Here are some of the ways suggesting how an altar could be set up, which is believed to be more auspicious than usual, based on Feng Shui's analysis:

1.  An altar should have odd number of deities.  An odd number aligns with the idea of Yang or energy emission.

2. An altar table will become more auspicious than regular size if it's length and with sizes are in multiples of 7.  For instance, a table's height of 4'1" is considered to be auspicious, because 7" times 7" is equal to 4'1".

3. An altar would have the greatest emission of Yang energy if it is place in a "Wealth Storehouse Spot" (Feng Shui termonology).  This spot is located in a corner diagonal to the door in a house or a room.  It is believed that the corner oppositing the door receives the most amount of qi.  When qi first enter's a room and flow to this corner, it is too extreme and should be avoided.  Qi will flow to the diagonal corner and qi here is peaceful.  When it departs from this corner, qi becomes too weak, and it offers no good use.  The aforementioned corner where the altar is placed should not have any openings (e.g., hallways, stairways, windows, etc.)
