Yeah, I didn't sign in to Ravelry, and so I couldn't see it. I was going by Jenett's description...which is salivatory. (I just made that word up. As in: worthy of drool)

The pics are also salivatory (a perfectly cromulent coinage!) - I had to mop my chin before posting my reply.

I'll note that I did have to sign in to Ravelry to see it.

It remains a mystery to me which things are visible there. (I thought pattern pages usually were: individual project pages, people can set to be visible with a link.)

Here's a writeup from the original publication of the pattern, which does not have the most compelling photos.

And here's someone's project blog with some great photos.

Ah, yeah, the pattern page is publicly visible; you accidentally linked to a project page instead. (Which actually has better pics IMO.)

Here's the pattern page. :)

So my Xmas gift to myself arrived: meet Sid, my new black leather motorcycle jacket.

The special thing about Sid (as in “natal sidereal”) is the star chart emblazoned on the back, which is what you would have seen if you looked up at the exact moment when and where I was born.

That's a neat idea. I'm going to have to see what the sky would have looked like (minus the sun as it was daytime) where and when I was born. While I've had my natal horoscope done years ago, I've never thought to see what the sky actually looked like above my then tiny head. You've inspired me -- again.

Here's that website again where you can do just that:

https://in-the-sky.org/skymap2.php

You can input the time and month/day, but years are too limited for us middle-aged folks. That makes it useless for planet positions, but the stars don't change from year to year (except infinitesimally, on a scale of thousands of years), so you can definitely get the stars right.
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

For people willing to invest a not very large amount of money (like a few dollars), you can also get planets - I used the Star Walk 2 (and Star Walk, before it) app on my iPad to do star mapping for a creative project set in the 90s, and regularly put it to the test of giving me stars for a particular day and time for locations in Scotland. You can go back hundreds of years, which is awesome.

(Bonus: if you can do star gazing where you are, there's a feature for that app, and a bunch of the similar ones, where you point your phone or whatever at the sky, it figures out where you are, and it labels what you're looking at. Planet, satellite, planet, star, oh, wait, there's that constellation....)

I can second how powerful the Star Walk 2 app is.  Even it's free and limited options version is still pretty powerful for discovery.  The full package add-on isn't very expensive and worth it.

And I also have to say just how amazing that cloak is!  Just perfect in so many ways.
