Pushing envelopes and going further: offering a little advice
« on: February 23, 2014, 12:39:57 pm »
I think this is where I would put this........

Since I had really gotten into spirituality and such, I had always tried to push the envelope of what I was able to do. I always tried to be better. The reason I really got into it is because I wanted to help people. Anyways, I ended up pushing myself to hard to quickly and I believe that it may be the cause of quite a few of my health issues, the minor ones and the major one; or rather, part of the cause. I always feel like what I do is never enough, so I try harder. I was wanting to offer this advice: Don't go to fast with expanding your abilities, if you start to have some health issues, perhaps it is time to slow down, back up, and just take the time to go over what you have expanded upon. Maybe I am being redundant with this, but I still thought I'd throw that out there.

I think trying to gently expand, progress, and heal is a good idea. But I am of the mindset that you should first work on helping yourself, before helping other people. You can sometimes do both at the same time. But doing it solely for others is a quick way to get you into trouble a little on down the line. Besides, if you are not in healthy place, how can you help others to be better?

Using the desire to help others as an inspiration, though, can be nice. My biggest motivating factor is that I want to improve myself for my partner, even though he loves me just as I am.

This would be the point that I would urge you to see a doctor if you have major health issues. But I know you, and I know you have already done that, and are working on taking care of yourself medically, too. But throwing that out there for anyone else who may not know that, or stumbles upon this thread for themselves.

I am usually hesitant to link physical ailments with stuff that happens Elsewhere, or spiritual workings. But I do think it is possible. I have noticed a definite link with my chronic pain issues, and my workings. And I have definitely had experiences Elsewhere that partially manifested here. Psychosomatic, maybe. And there is definitely something to say about  burning yourself out and the health problems that can cause or trigger, whether the burn out is from external, or internal events.

This can be really dangerous thinking. I know because I fall into it A LOT. Maybe that is something you could address in  your efforts of improving? Acceptance?

I do not think it is redundant. I think it is good advice, particularly for beginners. And a good reminder to more experienced folk.

What exactly do you think you did that wound up affecting your health?

No, it is not easy. It is very, very difficult. It would probably take a good while to get over almost any method of thinking. I know it is for me.

Well....when I do any work, I only use mind/soul/will "power" if you will (I hate using the word power). I stretched my mind quite a bit and have been doing so for a while, and only recently have not been doing so near as much.

Why do you hate that word?

Anyway that's hella vague, so I don't see why that would really have much impact unless you were neglecting your physical body while pursuing your spiritual/magical goals.

Lets see, how to explain this...sorry, I really am trying to explain, I am just horrible at explaining things. I practice things like psionics, nonphysical/astral travel and work, things like that, and I try to expand on that, which I use my mind (soul and will as well) a lot, in doing so much expanding so quick I believe I maybe have maybe messed some things up in my head a bit. I hope that explains a little bit better, if not I'll think about it a bit more and try to explain better.:(:o

From the vague descriptions, it seems to me that your trying so hard to do what ever it is you're doing, that your burning yourself out.

No need to apologise - some things are hard to put into words, and not everyone expresses themselves the same way.

Now, from what I can gather, it sounds like you may have a good old fashioned case of fatigue. This could certainly affect your health, although I don't see any reason to assume it is directly responsible for anything serious.

Do you maintain a cleansing and grounding routine? Use protection?

It is hard to explain why I feel that way but I know it's likely a burn out of sorts. I do have a maintence/cleansing/grounding routine and I have protection that I modify when I need to.

I used to do meditations that progressed into astral travel; they always wiped me out and sometimes left me tingly for hours after. I know when I involuntary travel in my sleep by the way I feel in the morning. I have enough fatigue in my life to try active astral practice.

I would examine my routines if I were you, and see if anything needs to be adjusted. Then if you truly feel you're overdoing it, just pull back for a while and see if things improve.

One out of every 25 or 30 'travels' or 'intense awareness' or 'connecting' experiences leave me rubbery-legged.  But that goes away after 10 or 15 minutes.
