I'd be tempted to buy one of these even if I didn't do magic at all! My workings don't involve moving the burner, so I haven't had a problem using copper.

Yeah they are adorable. The name of the store is Leaves and Roots.
When given a choice between black and white, choose purple.

What would your kit contain?

A magical knife (Trollkniv)
A wand (Trollstav)
A divination box (Trollskrin)
Some graveyard dirt, bones and herbs (Trollmedel)

I put the swedish words for everything, and "troll" means magic haha :)

Heh, that gives a whole other meaning to things like troll science.

... what would you put in it?

I don't do much magic, so my portable kit is pretty much my only kit. The contents so far:

- a copper burner
- charcoal disks for it
- a candle
- salt
- some edible paper
- a regular pencil
- a red china-marking pencil
- a small folding knife (for practical, not ritual, use)
- soap
- a white cloth
- a small notebook with correspondences, symbols etc

I can think of a few things I'd like to add, like matches :ashamed:, string, and colored origami paper.

What would your kit contain?
My kit consists of my tarot cards, pendulum, and my magickal diary.

All three items can be brought on an airplane with no fuss.

Everything else can be found on location.

I did a beautiful hexagram ritual in a Hilton hotel room using:

a hotel water cup,
a pen (wand),
a disposable coffee cup cover (disk), and
a toothbrush (dagger/athame).

All these things were set on an ottoman (altar).

As I had no candles, I simply imagined them.

It was as beautiful an experience as I could hope for out of a ritual.

- a white candle
- a lighter
- salt
- dried sage
- natron
- teabags
- a few small stones
- world's tiniest ogham

I'm not really sure what else I would have use for. Maybe I should actually put this together sometime.

I thought I'd follow up and mention that I actually did make this at some point. It fit in an incredibly small space, and included sage, ogham made from tiny cardstock rectangles, half a birthday candle, a small amount of salt, a 10 cent coin, and... I'm sure there was probably something else in it.

It worked for what it was, but I think it's worth having something a bit bigger than that. For reference, it was smaller than a Chessex box... maybe that should be my next challenge?

My answer will be purely hypothetical, since I haven't used this particular collection, but a pencil-box is small enough to be carried in a jacketpocket, and big enough to contain: A 5 centimetre plastic bottle of holy water, a 5 centimetre plastic bottle of other content, a sandalwood stick, matchbox, a very small candle, a screw nut, a pencil-sized wand and a thimble. A Swiss army knife could be carried in another pocket - tied with something, in order to comply to legislation.

Well, in camping/survival circles, it's a common thing to make survival kits in Altoids tins, which is probably similar. I haven't made one of those, but I do have a fishing kit in a Fisherman's Friend tin ... it seemed appropriate.

Tied, like on a lanyard, or tied around to keep it closed? Around here we have laws about the size of folding knives, but nothing about tieing them up that I know of.
