* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Banishing illness
« on: December 30, 2013, 07:07:57 pm »
I learnt yesterday that a friend of mine is very sick. She's in hospital now, no word yet on diagnosis. I plan to do a banishing tomorrow night on her behalf, and as it's possibly the most serious situation I'll have performed magic for, I thought I'd post my ideas so far up here, and see if anyone has anything useful to add.

As I say, it's going to be a banishing (what with the dark moon coming on and all). Specifically a banishing of illness and pain. I have a taglock (she gave me an avocado when I was at hers yesterday, and I'm using the pit inscribed with her initial). I'm thinking of rubbing it in salt as a cleansing, and putting it into a sachet with some pieces of yew standing in for the illness, bay leaves and sage as general banishing herbs, and crushed willow bark to banish the pain.

From there, I'll call on my gods, stoke up my fire, and burn the whole thing. While it's burning I'll recite a banishing chant over it and ask the moon to take the pain and illness along with him as he passes down to the underworld.

Are there any aspects I'm missing here, anything that would make a useful addition? I keep feeling like there's something I've left out.

I'm always reluctant to do healing magic when there is no diagnosis as I worry that my magic could cause a temporary improvement that masks a deeper problem, but sometimes you don't have the luxury of waiting. That said, what you are planning sounds okay at least from what little info I have. Be sure to identify the avocado pit with the illness and not with her if you are going to burn it -- you don't want to make a fever worse or anything. This is probably obvious, but I figure I should mention it anyway.
