A charm for a racing competitor
« on: October 06, 2012, 12:39:08 am »
I'm pretty new to the whole charm making thing, and could really use any input on this. My SO races on classic motorcycles and side-cars as a hobby, I've decided that I'd like to make a charm or similar to keep on him the next time he goes racing.

The idea for the charm will be for luck, speed, safety and possibly mechanical workings since he built and maintains his race bike.
I also thought that it could be easily modified for a general travelling charm for daily use(his only form of transport is also a motorbike) by taking out the speed aspect.

I honestly have no idea where to go after that, so I'm open to any and all ideas.

.... luck, speed, safety ...

Hmm.  For luck, speed, and safety, I'd think you want a charm for the driver and his skills.  How about a steering wheel?  Not a real one to carry around, that might be impractical.  :)  Perhaps one small enough for a pendant or key fob.

For mechanical workings, perhaps something on the vehicle itself.  Maybe a pic of cogs meshing together?  Could be small and hand painted just about anywhere on the bike.
You have my sword
And my shield
And my... um... slacks.

After talking to him about it I now have some guidelines...
It cannot be a hard object(in case of falling onto it) and since he doesn't have any pockets in his racing gear it would need to be something relatively small that I can sew into the lining or into a pouch on the lining.

I like the idea of painting something small onto his everyday ride though, I shall have to think on it further.
