Need help with Dream Interpretation
« on: November 26, 2014, 05:42:56 pm »
Okay, so I've been once in a while having dreams of me exorcising evil entities/demons from people. Usually from people my age or younger. I'm 24 by the way.

I've never experienced an exorcism in any shape or form in my life.

I'd basically be praying over the person with my hand on their head or shoulder. At first it has been the usual Christian way where I ask God to help the person but recently, I had a dream that I was exorcising my former childhood best friend (she's atheist by the way) of a demon but I was asking the God and Goddess this time for help. After praying on her for a few moments, the demon was gone.

Does any one have any ideas why I suddenly started praying to both the God and Goddess for help or why I'm even having dreams about exorcising people?

You might not have had personal waking experience with exorcism, but on some level I can only think you have gathered some idea about what an exorcism entails, the shape of the process.

As for the presence of the God and Goddess in your dreams, it could be that these are nodes of notions that have solidified and begun enacting in your mindscape. In Jungian terms, it could be your ultimate sort of Animus and Anima figures working together in order to accomplish... whatever the exorcism symbolizes.

Your atheist friend in your dream could be symbolic of something, too. The familiarity, the atheism, the possession... That it wasn't a new dream character instead, that it wasn't some dredged-up memory of American Horror Story: Asylum where it's a possessed nun instead of a possessed atheist, and the demonic possession at all, could carry meaning--or, actually, not.

It could be a growth towards greater personal integrity, rejecting the "demons" of the influence of somebody else's life perspective. It could be a development of your relationship, like, some atheists either don't care for or actively reject the dominant state religion but still behave with a tacit understanding that it's normal for people to adhere to said religion and therefore carry a sort of compounded xenophobia for alternative spiritualities...so perhaps this is your subconscious way of getting over any anxiety you might have introducing this part of your life to your friend? Or, it could be symbolic of your own atheism-like attitudes now integrating with and aligning with your spiritual self, exorcising the demons of dis-harmony by representing your religious center as a support (hand on the shoulder) or intellectually defensible course (hand on the head) to take in life.

It could mean a lot of things.

I agree that many interpretations are possible; the key is to find the one that fits you.  Usually, if people are listening, they'll receive a confirmation from a spirit guide when they consider the interpretation that is correct for them.

Not knowing anything about you, I look at this message as I might a poem or short story about which I’m asked to provide interpretations (sort of a New Critical view of oneiromancy in lieu of facts outside the “text” of your dreams).  To me, it's significant that you are removing some sort of unwanted energy or being or relationship from others and that you switched from a paradigm of doing so by appealing to only a male, monotheist deity to one of appealing to the divine masculine and feminine from a polytheistic point of view.  It could be that you are being called to help others balance male and female energy - or perhaps mono- and atheist energy with polytheistic.  I would guess that you have the potential to banish misconceptions, perhaps self-misconceptions in particular.  You also mentioned using your hand (a symbol of power or influence) on others' heads or shoulder areas.  This could further suggest (based on an understanding of the chakras) that you might be able to help others to see or speak more clearly by intervening to remove blockages.  These are just my interpretations, though.  If they resonate with you, great; if not, jettison them in favor of what you and your guides know.

What I find interesting is that you are the second person this week that I have seen having dreams about exorcism or getting rid of negative energies and the 3rd person overall. I am starting to get really curious why they keep popping up. That being said....

Perhaps you feel you are unable to help people, especially your friend, in a more mundane way and this is a way in which you can help. Is your friend going through a hard time?

That is an interesting interpretation. I've never thought about it that way. It makes some sense to me.

I don't know of any spirit guides I may have though. I have a totem animal which is the crow. I might have to do some meditation in order to see if there are any spirit guides trying to communicate with me.

Really? How unusual. I didn't know others were having these kinds of dreams too.

Well, like I said, she's a former friend. I haven't talked to her in a long time now. We drifted apart after high school (the fact that I moved as a kid to a different city didn't help the friendship but I digress) so yeah.

I would also like to add that since addressing the dreams on the board, I haven't had any more.
