I got the Lenormand out and did a Tableau.

The corner cards are 'The Cross' (left up), 'The Tower' (left down), 'The Key' (right up) and the 'The Crossroads' (right down).

This is what I read from them:
The struggle with the illness made you to withdraw, but you will be making a decision about this matter for sure.

The four middle cards are 'The Stork', 'The Mountain', 'The Clouds' and 'The Bear'.
I read them as: New beginnings will be difficult, you struggle for trust, change will bring difficulties.

The work card (The Anchor) lies on the position of The Stork. So there will be change, but it is followed by The Birds, The Whip, The Clouds and The Bear.
I read it as: There is a lot of hinderance and upset about changes in Work, also doubt about the strength you have, to pull this through.

The surrounding cards of The Lady are vom Up Left to Down Right:
Fox, Park, Moon, Rider - (Lady) - Stars, Sun, House, Crossroads.

You're occupied with thoughts about going 'public', but there is 'deceit' in them. Maybe you think you are more able to handle it, than you really are. But your feelings about the situation will become clearer as you get a message (or shall we say, readings? ).

The Stars bring opportunities and the sun luck, but you need to base it firmly on your 'home' (Which can be meant literally your house - working from home - or also your inner home, your core). There is a decision to be made.

Hey Aster! Pulled a few cards for you last night and I'm still sorting through them, but the general gist of the reading is "rest" (that's literally the meaning of the first card!) along with taking care to direct your emotions efficiently. The message I'm getting is "Wait for work, keep up the healing and recuperation, and channel your passions elsewhere in the meantime."

About the "home":  Do you think that could be interpreted as a sort of "home career", as in the first kind of work I ever seriously did?  That would be theater.  I started working as a technician when I was 18 or 19, and have always been involved in theater, professionally or semi-professionally.  I've been considering going back to that kind of work, because I'm good at it and it doesn't require the same kind of brain that policy/advocacy work does.

Or maybe that's too abstract an interpretation?

I don't know, if there is a card combination, that would say 'theater'.
OTOH that your mind jumps to this (and you really 'sound' kinda enthusiastic about it, too, if I am not picking up the wrong vibes here) is maybe a hint for you to look into this?
