If you could draft a curriculum that was uniquely centered on your religion, of any classes, what would you pick?

You have seven slots to fill. ;)

* Stop, Drop, and Roll (with it): Dealing with change (Life skills for people whose phoenix metaphors are not actually all that metaphorical.)

* The Great Library in Daily Life (Research, learning, and information evaluation as a way of life, not just something you do for papers)

* Belt, Suspenders, and Sustainability : Ritual and magical technique and design to consider all relevant use cases and parameters. (Also, perhaps, a favourite of would-be engineers. Includes a section on use of technology in same.)

* Patterns, repetitions, and observations : Natural history, astronomy, and number patterns. (Science, math, a little botany...)

* Musica Universalis (Music of the spheres in theory and practice)

* Welcome in the Kitchen : Communication, boundaries, and connection (a little bit of anthropology, a bit of negotiating cultural assumptions, probably a lot of tea.)

* Not Reinventing the Wheel : History, literature, culture for people who like to know what's already been done.
Seek Knowledge, Find Wisdom: Research help on esoteric and eclectic topics (consulting and other services)

Seeking: first steps on a Pagan path (advice for seekers and people new to Paganism)

Like others, I have a few different traditions, so this course listing is only for one of them, which is currently a nameless sort of religious witchcraft focused on the Big Three -- Brighid, the Morrigan, and Manannan. Also I am completely unqualified to come up with this list because I still have no idea what I'm doing BUT IT IS A FUN EXERCISE ANYWAY.

Also also, the first class I would have as required for any of my religions' course listings.

Also also also, this is sort of done from more a "Major in University" perspective, with these 7 courses being the absolute requirements, but there being a breadth and width of eclectic courses students would take as well. See it as a "Major in Modern Pagan Studies with a focus on [whatever this path ends up being called]."

* Sex Positivity 101: a comprehensive introduction to consent, boundaries, sex ed, and the spectrum of sexual identities

* Understanding the Earth's Cycles: a course tailored to one's local area, focused on understanding the ebb and flow of the local seasons and cycles that local flora and fauna go through (essential for building one's ritual calendar based upon the Three, as one's interpretation of the 4 fire festivals will probably be different depending on one's area). Also, how to survive in the woods if you get lost, because you might. And standard practices for not drowning in the ocean. Just, basically: what is the earth around you like.

* Liminality and the Cycle of Life, Death, and Rebirth

* The Three: a comprehensive look at the three deities who started this whole thing (Brighid, the Morrigan, and Manannan), their roles within this path, their historical/mythological appearances, and a broader look at them in their roles as The Smith, The Phantom, and the Deep One, and their relationships to other deities who fit within those broader archetypes. (3 year course.)

* Introduction to Witchery, including a class dedicated to Fire Safety 101

*  Imbas Forosnai: channelling one's creative energy to make religious art, poetry, or whatever else in honor of the Three, and learning to Listen to what they have to tell you.

* Learning the ritual year: understanding the holidays in the ritual calendar, why they matter, who they are sacred to, and how to tailor them to your locale, if needed. Prerequisite: Earth's Cycles class.
Pray drunk. Hex sober.

Okay, so I hardly feel like I'm at a point where my practice is complete enough to teach anyone, but I had to come up with seven courses that covered the important bits of my religion, these are the seven I'd pick.

In an alternative universe, I'd take these classes during my final two years in high school (this is Australian-based) and it would be awesome.

Ancient Religion, Modern Practice
- how to religion in modern times, based on the old Egyptian religion, and how to build a working practice today. Also, How To Be Kemetic in the Southern Hemisphere When The Sirius-Calendars Don't Work Properly.

The Gods of Shedet
- In which, Sobek and Heru and Wesir and Isis (and Nit and Renenutet) and Their myths and history and how They fit together to make a coherent tradition.

Language Classes
- I'm in no way qualified or fluent enough to teach a language, but I'd certainly encourage them to learn German or Italian or possibly French, and pick up a bit about how to read hieroglyphs, transliteration, and how Egyptian language works. More of a 'learn together' sort of thing than anything else.

Ritual, Magic, and Heka: The Practical Side of Things
- In which ritual and heka and festivals and daily work and meditation and a bit of witchcraft. Also shrines, altars, ritual tools, and naos-tending. Probably some divination as well. The very first classes will be on record-keeping, because I'm still not very good at this, and it's very important.

Scholarship, Research, and Modern Practice
- What sources I've used, where to find others, how to evaluate sources, how to read academic texts, how to use books to support and inform your practice, books you should read, when to put the books down and Do Something, discernment and how to evaluate gnosis against the existing literature, why you are never going to know everything and that's okay, how not to be scared of UPG.

Creative Writing For The Budding Ritualist
- myths, myth-making, hymns, rituals and liturgy, devotional work, heka, spells and magic, how to do all these things and not feel like you're messing it up.

Household Worship
- Egyptian, Roman, and Greek household worship, gods, monthly festivals, ancestor rites, shrines, altars, and larariums, how to purify a house, and other household magical work. There may be gardening and cooking involved.

Okay,

Craft-Related

* Cultural and Folklore Studies (Of A Specific Culture) or Local History and Pre-History That Does Not Gloss Over Colonisation Effects
* World Religions: An Overview Covering More Than The Abrahamics
* Fairy-Lore and Fairy-Faith Both Before And After The Victorians
* Philosophy of Science
* Pick one:  Ecology, Geology, Agricultural Studies, some science having to do with the land
* A Social History of Liberation: the Magic and Politics of Escaping Oppression And Seeking Power
* An art course

Pop-Cultural

(Some of these are probably semester courses rather than full year, really.)

* Art as Political and Social Transformer: A Sociological Overview
* Science and Science Fiction, or "Where is my Flying Car?"
* Literature of the Fantastic
* Protest Songs, Rallying Hymns, and Subversive Rock and Roll
* Philosophy and Theology of the Discworld
* Superheroes And Other Explorations of Id and Identity
* If You Build It: Spiritual Constructions in Second Life, Minecraft, And Other Games

To do something for what I do is more of a college major than a year in high school though. ;)  It'd almost certainly handle all the distribution requirements for a US degree....

(I'm working on the coursework for that, but figured I'd throw this out first for fun.)

That sounds awesome, and I'm kinda jealous.

So, my list. (Bear in mind that this is what I would want to learn, not what I would be able to teach at this point.)

-Tarot: A journey into yourself
-C.G. Jung: Dreams, Archetypes, and paradigms
-Feeling the Spirit: The History of the Holy Spirit in Christianity and Judaism
-Altered States: The significance and power of meditation, visualization, and prayer
-A Ritual for Everyday: Daily Rituals and habits for your Spiritual Practice
-The God and Goddess within and Without: a Study of the Dynamics of the God and Goddess through History
-Celtic Folklore 101

That last one...I'm trying to learn more about Brighid and the god Mabon lately.

This has ended up pretty broad and vague really :P I am fairly eclectic, but the things I've chosen what I think would be a good foundation to create some sort of practice. For the most part I've focussed on skills and areas that can be tailored to personal interest.

1/Understanding learning and research methods: You do you, figure out how you learn best, and the methods of research that suit you best. Imo, it's really handy to figure out how you learn, and ways to support your own learning.

2/Intro to philosophy, leading into philosophy of religion and morality: grounding in basic terms and concepts first, then extending.

3/Narrative exploration(written, visual etc.): research types of narratives, look for similar threads, write/draw/create your own to tease out ideas and concepts that stick.

4/History, overview with room for depth studies: Beginning with a broad over view of eras, room for individually chosen depth studies relevant to the learner.

5/Herbalism and it's history: exploring the history of plants and substances, modern uses, religious practices, and dangers.

6/Gardening and/or permaculture: practical skills to create thriving, environmentally conscious gardens etc.

7/Creative project: subject to facilitate the production of some kind of project. Could be an art series, a play, novels, extended research project, composing music, designing spaces. Pretty open ended, main thing is focus on planning and then creating something in a supportive environment.
