Over the past few days I did a 3-part book review of Supermarket Magic by Michael Furie. All posts are now available to the public (they get posted first as early access to my Patrons).

Part 1

Part 2: Ableism Boogaloo

Part 3: Return of the Bitter, Angry Morag

The TL;DR is that the book is pretty ableist and food-shamey and has a lot of other problems, which is why I wrote over 5K words about it.

Thank you from saving me from reading that one. I have a feeling that book would have been tossed out the window.

Wow, thanks for sharing, I had been looking at that book, but now I think I'll pass (might see if the library has it, so I can skim for the good bits...but yeah, don't want to spend money on it)

Oooh, I feel you on this one.  Hubby gripes about my heels all the time (I'm a couple inches taller than him in bare feet...and I have several pairs of shoes with 2+ inch heels).  He knows better than to tell me not to wear stuff, but he does like to always complain about how short it makes him look.  I never really understood why this bothered people...but I guess I'm to tall to get it!

Today I blogged about stuff and our relationship with it.  Are your things happy?

Sorting through my thoughts about Anthony Bourdain's death:  Hello Darkness, My Old Friend

Really powerful post.  I do find that sometimes the reasons why we feel certain things so hard can be difficult to see...but when we do figure it out, it feels like we should have noticed it earlier.  I also love that you mention that there are levels of these feelings, because I think it is very easy for people to feel like their own experiences aren't as overpowering as other peoples, and therefor aren't valid...but we all go through our own stuff, and just because you are pushing through, doesn't mean you aren't working hard to do it.

My blog post this week is a reminder to Revel in your senses something that I find very useful in my life...as well as fun!

Thank you. I debated whether I should post it at all, but so glad now that I did.

Agreed, this is a great post.

I thought about Bourdain a lot but I ended up writing a post about Mr Rogers: http://www.jackofmanytrades.info/2018/06/24/its-you-i-like-mister-rogers/

I enjoyed reading this.  It's really interesting how things from early childhood still resonate so deeply within us, even when we can't quite put it into words.

Really sort of struggled with picking a topic this week, and with some hard writing deadlines (need to do serious binge writing for my Patreon story this month...gah!), I decided to write about Failure:  flipping your perspective

Interesting idea, one that I'd like to further explore. Now, if I could find five minutes of spare time....
