anybody ever wish for txt buddies?

maybe it's just me, but there are times that I wish I had a couple different people in my phone book that i could txt back and forth when I'm not around the computer.  Is there a resource for this already in place somewhere?  Do other people have the same desire?

I have no idea if there's a resource for it or not. I never really had that desire, but that's probably because a slew of people send me texts randomly. There's a joke among my friends that I'm their Facebook page -- they text me what they would ordinarily put on their Facebook status updates. I have no idea why.
