... according to Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

No argument from me!  My very favorite bit was where he talked about the common trope of looking at the stars and feeling small, which never made any sense to me; his words reflect perfectly my own take on it.

Too bad Mr. Sagan didn't have that type of digital video capability when he made Cosmos.  It would have been even more astounding.

Thank you for sharing that link, Sunflower. :)

I shared this on my Google+ page because it made me tear up. The funny thing is he wasn't TRYING to be poetic, but his words were similar in power to Sagan to me; a depth of awe in science that transcends most art I've come across.

Thanks for getting me to watch this again.

BTW, it's not stars--actually our closer relations, our neighbor planets--but Venus and Jupiter are going to be in conjunction (apparently very close together in Earth's sky) this Thursday, March 15. That's actually when they'll be "closest" together, but they're *really* close right now. Check the western sky just after sunset; it's gorgeous.

I can say from personal observation that Venus and Mars, and Jupiter, were all right last night:D:.

OMG, you're so totally right! I was just out there looking at Venus and Jupiter, looked east and saw a bright and clearly red one that had to be Mars...and then what I'm pretty sure was Saturn (by its brightness) was about halfway between them. It's like a freakin' family reunion out there!

Oh how I wish I wish I had a telescope strong enough to get some detail, like Saturn's rings!

Maybe when I inherit. ;)
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs
