Is the Supernatural study a Form of Science?
« on: December 29, 2012, 03:52:09 am »
Physics has already determined that there are in fact other realms. Perhaps these realms are where the supernatural reside? It seems plausible that the supernatural study could be a form a science since it deals with physics. Thoughts?

Well of course, silly!  And all magic can be explained by quantum physics, too.  This also has been determined by some named science or other.  Everyone knows these things, and the best physicists are the secret magickians of our age.

The Big Bang Theory is the real DaVinci Code.

If one studies the supernatural using the scientific method, then yes, it's study could be a form of science.

no, it's a  pseudoscience..... in other words it's presented as scientific  but it  does not adhere to valid  scientific method, it lacks  plausibility  and supporting  evidence, it can not be tested and  lacks scientific  status.

This also is a sacred Mystery of the Caprine Brotherhood, as you so thoughtfully brought up in another post. It's a shame their Grandmaster Clarke ascended into Aetherius and left behind the physical world; he had quite a few things to say about the intersection of science and magic. One day, Arkay willing, we'll be united with him again in spirit.

But one could actually use the scientific method etc and it would be a science.  A probably very small science, since as you pointed out, it cannot really tested well, so those parts that couldn;t be tested would be excluded.

Actually, a Finnish researcher (she's a medical doctor and anthropologist) just recently got a considerable grant for researching the connection between human mind and how it operates/works in connection with phenomena, creatures and realities that are considered supernatural.

(Sorry, I have no English language information available, just Finnish...)

I suspect that your inability to distinguish between reality and the things going on in your head is at the root of your problems here (and likely elsewhere).  Also, no.

See how I'm talking to it like it's not a troll?  Because I'm a lady.

But why does the govt and the general public dismiss the supernatural? There have been countless exposures to supernatural entities,  but it seems as though it's Taboo to discuss.

But perhaps things like Pendulum and Ouija can be studied? I'm not talking about the particle board Parker Bros Ouija... Th Real deal... Wooden

The general public does dismiss it because it is considered a sin to mingle with the supernatural...

No, the "general public" doesn't act or behave or believe as an amorphous mass. "The general public" more likely to dismiss everything you're saying as hogwash before they think of it as "evil".
