A team of physicists has provided some of the clearest evidence yet that our Universe could be just one big projection.

"Could be" are the operative words here -- but, assuming the article is reporting the contents of the papers accurately, this does seem to show that the holographic universe idea at least works as predicted with idealized universes. This gives the hypothesis legs it did not really have before.

This counterpoint agrees with you - though its title is on the 'absolute' side, the article itself mostly points out that that's all the papers show. No small thing - but still not the thing that's being reported and passed around in non-academic circles.

Thank you, that says what I meant far better than I did.  I've also mentioned in previous thread on this "hologram" idea that "hologram" as used in this hypothesis doesn't really mean what we think of as a hologram. The post you mentioned explains this with an example that should make it clear that "hologram" isn't referring to a projection like one the holodeck in Star Trek but rather to the bit that any piece of a hologram contains the information to recreate the whole "picture" just in a form that is "more blurry" as the piece of the hologram you have shrinks.
