100,000 Stars

100,000 Stars This was posted on the free cycle nyc cafe yahoo group.

Scrolling in your browser just got mind-blowingly exciting: 100,000 Stars is a new experiment from Google that is an interactive, animated, three-dimensional map of the Milky Way galaxy -- focusing on the known 100,000 stars nearest to our planet. You can zoom in and out between star systems and click on them to learn more about them.

100,000 Stars can be used on WebGL-supporting browsers like Chrome, Safari and Firefox for a visually stunning but humbling interactive experience that would make Carl Sagan proud. Check out the application here.
