Mormons Are the Reason Behind Gay Marriage Victories?

A fascinating take on the recent string of victories for same-sex marriage:

How the Mormons Ensured Victory for Gay Marriage
All they had to do, really, was get out of the way.

I hadn't considered this, but there may be some truth to it. (There's one factor in SSM's avalanche of success that, oddly, the author doesn't mention, but I think it carries a good deal of weight: The sitting president of the U.S. came out in favor of SSM.)

If bowing out of this political fight is indeed the new long-term policy of the LDS Church, then my boycott of all Mormon-owned businesses--in effect since California's Prop 8 passed thanks mostly to Mormon political intervention--will be over. I have always said that I don't give a damn what any church preaches; that's their business. But when they enter the political sphere to impose their religious beliefs on me, they make their religion my business, and I'll fight them to their dying breath.

Now if only the Roman Catholic church would learn what the LDS church seems finally to grasp. But I'm not holding my breath for that.
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

It doesn't effect their church, so I never understood why they care so much.
