What got me in this particular part is the definition- what is the difference between sex and fornication? :confused:

I would assume that their argument is that if he OWNS them, it's *okay sex*.  If it's some hooker that actually expects to get paid, it's *evil bad nasty sex*.

She sounds like she's Kuwait's version of Rush Limbaugh since she is a "political activist and TV host". It also sounds like quite a few people in Kuwait -- of both sexes -- do not think much of the idea.

Actually, she's apparently not advocating using POWs captured by Kuwait, but POW captured by other countries and bought from them by Kuwait slavers. While I'm not an expert on international law, I suspect the country selling its POWs would be one committing the war crime -- especially if the government of Kuwait was not the one buying the POWs.

It doesn't surprise me that she has to go all the way back to the 8th Century to bring up an example of this.

Gods forbid Kuwaiti men should ever have to exercise an ounce of self-control.  If they can't keep their own loins in check and have to own fellow human beings in order to satisfy their own lusts then I'd say they're hardly even men - more like big pubescent teenagers.

Good to know this Dark Age stupidity isn't even being taken seriously by Kuwaitis.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I think porn and prostitutes are better for married men who need to get their rocks off without threatening the marriage with the possibility of romance. Keeping slaves in these modern times will not make you very popular with the human rights activists.

I think it's easy for us to whine about how wrong and what a terrible person she is, but she lives in a culture that is very oppressive to women, marriages are probably arranged, and war is common. In her mind, this seems like a good way to put prisoners of war to use, since they are going to exist anyway. It's not unusual in any culture for married men to go to mistresses, concubines, and prostitutes, especially when people don't marry for mutual affection in the first place. I just think it's unfortunate she doesn't agree with prostitution, since it does the job without getting slavery involved.

Also, there seems to be vocabulary or translation issues. A concubine is more of an unofficial wife than a slave, so I don't see why they are being equated. Maybe the news media uses the word "slave" to sound more dramatic and get us westerners are riled up.

Actually their is a big sex slave market already operating with mostly young Russian women as the victims. This crap is legal, legitimate, and ethical by Sharia law.
