Being a NY political junkie (with a deep-seated hatred for Halloran's co-conspirator, Malcolm Smith), I've been following this story...and had completely forgotten the pagan aspect of it.

To the credit of the NYC media (this time around), Halloran's religion hasn't been singled out for mention, as it is irrelevant to the case.

Dan Halloran Convicted of Fraud and Bribery

"Former New York City Councilman Dan Halloran was convicted Tuesday on corruption and bribery charges. The jury deliberated for just under an hour and a half to return a guilty verdict on all five counts. Halloran was the highest elected official in the US who is openly an adherent of a Pagan or Heathen religion."

Wow. The highest-elected pagan is a city council member? I feel incredibly disappointed. None of us can even put forward a State Legislator? A mayor? There's gotta be at least a mayor somewhere...

So much this. I mean, I guess I technically shouldn't care so much any more, but I was like "really?" This whole affair is disappointing.
