* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

When talking about my religion, a lot of it does boil down to "Hemet teaches this..." Not to say that I don't have my own thoughts and UPG or do my own research. I enjoy reading through academic books and journal articles to glean bits of lore that enhance my understanding of the Gods or spark inspiration, but at the end of the day I'm content to work within the overall structure of Kemetic Orthodoxy. Maybe I'm just lucky that I align well with those teachings.

I wonder if it's at all helpful to think of Independents/KO folks like Catholics and Protestants.  Catholics have a Pope.  Protestants do not.  That does not mean they have nothing in common.  It does not mean they do not worship the same God.  It does not mean they cannot go out for lunch and enjoy a discussion on theology once in awhile.

And some denominations of Protestants still don't believe that Catholics are Christians. :rolleye:: But if you (or more to the point, they) can set all that aside, as Nehet says, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to have lunch and a civil conversation.

Not to devil's advocate here, but it's rare that anyone can set anything aside that they hold personally long enough to have lunch and a civil conversation.

People with religious differences do this all the time.

Look at the Cauldron.

I'm not saying it's easy.  Only possible, and worthwhile.

As an addendum:  This is easier for pagans to do than it is for Catholics and Protestants.  We're used to having to work closely with people whose beliefs differ radically from our own.  Our numbers are small, and we don't have the luxury of saying "I will only be friends with other people if their beliefs are the same as mine!"  We'd have no friends.

Personally, if I'm far from home and run into another polytheist, I get excited.  I'll happily take the time to sit down and talk to such a person because we have common ground...even if this is an Asatru or Celtic polytheist rather than Kemetic.  Pagans are used to finding common ground despite strong differences.  If we can do this with other pagans who aren't Kemetic, I don't see why we can't do this with other Kemetics.

For what it's worth, I often feel somewhat as though I'm on probation here. As though whenever I post, someone's going to think, "Oh, she's just one of those KO drones." This may just be me being insecure and mildly paranoid, but there you go.

--Shefyt

I've felt that way in the past as well, but I always thought it was just me being insecure myself. For the record, I understand that most of my KO beliefs may be downright historically inaccurate. I'm not a historically accurate reconstructionist though, I'm Kemetic Orthodox, but a lot of times I worry that other members might misinterpret me and think that I believe the RPD is what the ancients did or something.

Personally, I'm very hopeful for the KIN. I'm there under the display name of 'Zef', and I hope to be fairly active there, as well as here. I really hope more independents join, and to be honest, I think a lot of my fellow member of the HON could benefit from interacting with other Kemetics like you guys, if only for a different perspective on things.

Actually, I really hope some members of other temples join (I don't know what other temples there -are- at the moment, but...I think some connection might be a good thing).
