2019 Donation Drive

It's time for our annual Server Donation Drive! We need to raise at least $650 (same as last year) to keep The Cauldron's server online for another year. Please help! Either hit that Paypal button to the right and make a one-time donation in any amount or set up a monthly Bronze, Silver or Gold Donor subscription. You can find more info in this message!

Donations as of 13 Sept 2019: $656 donated. $6 more our minimum goal! Let's beat last year's total of $99 more than the minimum!

Note: This total is updated manually, usually once a day

* "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" Problem Logging In?

If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

I have:
- Complete Gods & Goddesses / Wilkinson
- Symbol and Magic in Egyptian Art / Wilkinson
- Magic in Ancient Egypt / Geraldine Pinch
- The One and the Many / Hornung
- Daily Life of the Egyptian Gods / Meeks
- Religion and Magic in Ancient Egypt / Rosalie David
- Red Land Black Land / Barbara Mertz
- Set: God of Confusion / Van Velde
- Ancient Egyptian Literature V. 1&2 / Miriam Lichtheim
- The Sacred Tradition in Ancient Egypt and The Sacred Magic of Ancient Egypt / Rosemary Clark
- A couple of books on hieroglyphs and art books.
- e-copies of various Wallis Budge books.

I should note that I have not actually read all of these yet. :whis:

Glad to hear you've got so many resources, Sefiru! I'll have to write down these titles as well as the others and create a really big "Must Get" list.

~Update~

Alright, now that we have a couple of people interested, we're going to be holding the first meeting on Friday, USA specific, at 10pm-11pm CDT time. As for the client, we're shooting for MUX, if that changes, I will post with the changes. If anybody wants to join in and is coming to the thread late, you're more then welcome to post here or PM me or Acidrica. We're also open to making accommodations for anybody who needs them, to the best of our ability. ^^

I would love to get in on this, but you guys meet a little bit late for me (east coast, early riser for work). Is there any way I could participate without actually being in the chats live?

Certainly, Sefiru is participating outside of the live chats. We've got a few options, but I'd like you to go ahead and make a post with what resources you have available. In the mean time, I'll be shooting you a PM to figure out how you'd like to participate in a way more helpful for you. Is this reasonable?

I pretty much just have the internet available to me at the moment, unfortunately. I have a few things translated by Budge, but I know they're pretty out of date and the translations aren't so great. They were given to me by family members who knew of my interest in Ancient Egypt. I don't have a lot of money to spend on books, so I haven't really bought any for myself. I believe I have one of his translations of the Book of the Dead and a copy of "Egyptian Tales and Legends: Pagan Christian Muslim" close at hand.

I'd love to get in on this, actually. (: I've never used MUCK though.

Out of the book list, I have/read:
- Complete Gods & Goddesses / Wilkinson
- Symbol and Magic in Egyptian Art / Wilkinson
- Magic in Ancient Egypt / Geraldine Pinch
- The One and the Many / Hornung
- Daily Life of the Egyptian Gods / Meeks
- Religion and Magic in Ancient Egypt / Rosalie David
- Red Land Black Land / Barbara Mertz (currently reading)
- Set: God of Confusion / Van Velde
- Ancient Egyptian Literature V. 1&2 / Miriam Lichtheim
- The Sacred Tradition in Ancient Egypt and The Sacred Magic of Ancient Egypt / Rosemary Clark (almost done reading)

---

I have also bought Song of Hathor - Ancient Egyptian Ritual for Today by Kerry Wisner which JUST arrived, so I'll be reading that throughout the next few days.

I should have Sobek of Shedet by Zecchi in 2ish weeks.

EBOOKS I also suggest adding:
- Maxims of Ptahhotep
- Mechanics of Ancient Egyptian Magical Practice by Robert Ritner
Mivi | Mudang (Korean shaman-priest)

Ahhh, I'm so sorry I missed this. We met tonight, but we're going to meet again with the same topic next friday over skype, if you wouldn't mind me pming you mine?

Meeting went well, we'll be posting up notes on it soon. For now, we'll be continuing the topic of Cosmology, and also be each picking a 'creator' deity to talk about next week. For example, I picked Nekhbet. :) You can pick the same one as others, so don't be afraid to overlap.

I'd like to join in as well. Feel free to PM me. Are you using Skype video chart of just IM? I don't have a lot of Skype experience.

Sure, it's always good to have more people involved. We're just using text chat in Skype at the moment, if that helps.

My Skype info should be in my profile. I got nudged into looking at this study group again. I'm afraid I don't have much to contribute at the moment but if you don't mind a lurker then I'd love to show up and.. well, lurk. :)

You're more then welcome to lurk! When I get home, I'll add you and add you to the convo we've got going! If you want to do any contributing, we've picked a creation deity to research. :)
