I suspect that that loan might finish up before Opet starts, but that shouldn't stop anyone.

We are a lean, mean emboatening machine! I didn't even have time to set up the loan today. :P

We have a Kiva team!  To join use this link:  http://www.kiva.org/invitedto/the_emboatening_crew/by/heather4410

I hope it's okay that I join even if I'm not Kemetic? I'm a big Kiva fan and I do it for religious as well as social reasons, just not the same religious reasons. XD

Emboatening for everyone, by everyone!  As I said in the info, Kemetics and, you know, friends. ;)

I just donated to Lucia (http://www.kiva.org/lend/603652) who needs a boat so her son can go fishing. She's going pretty fast as well, only needs $100 more.

For those who AREN'T using Kiva yet: they've got an action at the moment where if you sign up through a referral from someone already using it, you can lend someone $25 for free, AND the person whose referral you used gets $25 extra to lend. The link for a referral from me is here.

(Any non-Kemetics who want to participate are also welcome, of course!)

Thanks!

So, I joined and used the two bonuses I got (one for signing up, one for recruiting Danny) to make two loans to Ren's group in Cambodia for the fishing boat.

Hopefully I'll be able to make enough money to make more loans in the near future; I'm pushing for it. :) (Also hoping to make enough referrals to get more bonuses! Here's my referral link, if anyone's interested.)

I just emboatened, or rather helped buy materials for someone to repair their boat.

I'm still getting the hang of Kiva, but I made a couple of loans last night. Felt good to do some emboatening. I'm not sure how many other loans I'll make, given my finances, though. Have a referral link, should you need it..

Thanks for the beautiful idea. :) Followed your link, then made a second donation to repair a Cambodian fishing boat.

My referral link - I supported a man in the Philippines to repair the passenger boat he runs for income, and I made a 'real' donation to him too. When the money's refunded I'll support more projects. Kiva really is wonderful.

Great idea for a festival event, kiddos!

Might as well throw my referral link in here too! I just donated towards a weaving group for Athene's day- it really is a great way to celebrate and give back to the community. I've been poking at Kiva Zip, too, which is looking interesting.
