How Do You Worship Aset?
« on: April 01, 2013, 04:43:02 pm »
I was just wondering how to you all worship Aset? I worship her in the morning, when I wake up, and give her offerings of incense, milk, water, and bread. I use the ritual that Sharon handed out, which I think is totally acceptable. I know that others have their own morning rituals, but I would really like to know how you worship Aset.

I maintain a shrine to her at which I usually honour her every day with offerings of incense (myrrh and lotus, mostly) and candles. Right now Osiris is represented on my shrine also, but often it will just be Isis alone. I'm not very good at maintaining a regular practice at the same time every day. Sometimes I honour her in the morning, sometimes at night. The statue I use of of Isis is her Greco-Roman guise, as I'm not strictly Kemetic.

I do the Kemetic Orthodox ritual of the Senut.  I offer candles, myrrh essential oil and a water libation along with a food or drink offering when I do ritual.  I also write for Her.  I'm working on a few books about Aset including a devotional one, an oracle one and a hymnal in which I've translated ancient hymns for Her.

I also write in my blog:  Fiercely Bright One
I am the Goddess of Who I can Become. I mix the magic of the sorceress with the blade of a warrior. I walk the liminal pathways to see the face of the Goddess, both terrible and kind. As She stares back at me, I tremble in awe and ecstasy.  --SatAset

I used to keep a shrine for Aset, but found that it was unnecessary. The fullest extent of my relationship with her (now) is through bread.I make loaves of bread for her when she requests them. Otherwise, she has a small statue that sits in my living room, and a mini statue that sits on top of my kar shrine where she can watch over her two brothers.

I do a devotional rite to Her at least once a week. Sometimes it is Senut (from KO), but often times it is a rite I have devised myself or an adapted form of Senut. It always includes purifying myself, hymns to her and an "awakening" or "attention grabbing" hymn ( i have no open statue atm), offerings, and music or powtry if time permits as well as chants or meditation. I offer snacks as well as meals (cantelope, strawberries, blueberries, water eggs, bread, beans and rice, vegetables...almost any food). I honor Her by trying to be active in my community, watching my own negative self talk, and refraining from idle gossip ( for me, this honors Her as a Name of right speech/heka as well as leadership and kingship). I oftentimes will find various different items to offer to Her and pick them up, usually jewelry. For some unknown reason (which is entirely UPG), I often times offer up the really awesome lesson plans I devise...no real reason behind this other than It seems appropriate and connected to some of the things She and I "work on" together.

I work with Aset. I keep a shrine to her and give her daily offerings. However, most of my relationship with her has to do with maintaining my heka and magical endeavors. To honor her, periodically, I will pray to her; write devotional poetry to her; bake for her; cook dinner. I've found, partially due to Devo's guidance, that she really enjoys baking.

Good luck.

I bake for Her too.  It reminds me of putting Wesir back together again since most of what is baked is from grains.
