A couple of my oldest friends are going through a really tough time right now.  He just had major spinal surgery and is still recovering.  During this time, she was diagnosed with colon cancer and had surgery to remove the tumor today.  They have two young children.

Thanks, Randall (and everyone).  It's killing me not to be closer--they're in Portland and I'm up in Washington.  I wish there were more I could do.

I got word that she's doing well, and that they have lots of physical help from friends and family nearby.  The tumor was well-defined and doesn't seem to have spread beyond the small area of colon where it originally developed.  I'm very hopeful, and very appreciative of any help.  Thank you all so much.
