Surgery tomorrow, nothing huge but still . . .
« on: July 19, 2011, 10:35:14 pm »
Most of you already know I'm having rotator-cuff repair done arthroscopically on my left shoulder. I report to the hospital tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6:30am. With any luck at all I'll be out around noon-ish, depending on how long they leave me cooling my heels beforehand. Hubby's going with me.

Whatever anyone cares to send up for me will be appreciated. I don't expect any problems, but one never knows.

Oh--and I won't be posting much afterward, because I absolutely despise typing one-handed. :(

My sister had that done a few years ago.  She was mostly okay with help while she was awake, but she would get her arm into the strangest and most painful positions while sleeping.  Hopefully your hubby will be aware of your twists and turns and be able to prevent some of that.

And typing two-handed because you just have to say something will interfere with your recovery.  Been there, done that, was comforted by the satisfaction of having had my say anyway. :)

Thanks, everyone, for the good vibes etc.! I've been home for a couple of hours. The only surprise for the surgeon was the amount of adhesions that had formed while I was favoring that shoulder. I'm out of the sling, I'm supposed to USE the arm (not lift heavy things, but DO things with it), and I'm waiting now for them (whoever they are) to deliver "the machine" (whatever it is) that will move my arm for me. I'm having "Wall-E" moments, here. ::Twitch::

Oh, and the dressing comes off on Saturday; Tuesday next I have my followup, and I can drive as early as tomorrow if I want. (and I'm typing with TWO HANDS!)

I'm not sure what to say about this. A machine to move your arm for you? What will medical science come up with next?

Ditto.

Please elaborate when you get "the machine".  Or post pics. ;)

I'm glad the surgery went so well!
