For what it's worth, what you described is something that happens to me on a fairly regular basis.  It's been determined by my doctors that it's related to my migraines.  That might be something for them to consider in his case.

Migraine had been suggested, but as of last night he is supposed to be having an MRI today and seeing both a Neurologist and an Opthalmic specialist tomorrow. I will pass that on for you though (emailed you already...x)

He is so happy to hear that people are thinking of him, and he has gone some very pretty shades of pink. Thank you all so much. If you could keep him in your thoughts until he is discharged, we would be eternally grateful...x

Just to let you all know- he has had an MRI today. He hasn't seen the Neurologist yet, but he has been told that he possibly has MS. I think that he is kind of in shock at this point- he was certainly kind of dazed when I saw him a couple of hours ago. I don't think that the possibility of MS had even crossed his mind.

I am still hoping that it is just a virus or migraines, but we should know either way tomorrow. As soon as I know anything for definate, I will post and let you all know.

I've also had something like this- I got a headache and my vision went from blurry to gone over the course of a few hours. The ER said it was a migraine and gave me a short course of steroids, which helped. They said they suspected it was caused by some sort of spasm, but they weren't totally sure.

I did wonder about that. A dear friend of mine has been dx'd with MS for probably 10 years or so now, and she has occasionally gone left-eye blind from it. (So far it's always come back--but sometimes more slowly than others, and sometimes not as completely as others.)

Some good and bad news this morning- the MRI results have come back normal, so he doesn't have MS. The bad news is, as yet, they have no idea what the problem actually is. The neurologist is supposed to be seeing him today so maybe we will have some answers by tonight.

Good news all round- Ste is deing dischared from hospital today! Apparently he has managed to get Optic Neuritis (an inflammation of the optic nerve). The Neurologist is prescribing some new medications for him, but it could take a couple of months for him to get his sight back properly (here's hoping for sooner).

But still- he is coming home today. He wanted me to say Thank You again to you all, you truly wonderful people....x

Knowing what the problem is must be a huge relief.  And yay for discharging from the hospital:)
