Schedule! Why Leave Message WITHOUT Important Bits?!
« on: September 21, 2011, 10:52:54 pm »
So I have a job. It's better than no job, but with my chp 30 GI Bill running out and student loans looming I've been looking for a better one. Right now I earn about 1k a month which is about 600 short for my usual bills and won't cover student loan payments as well.

Anyhoodles, I got a lead for a really solid job, $15.32/hr, full benefits, 40 hour work week, hours that aren't murderous and are actually opposite the local horrible traffic etc.

Only, they called yesterday to schedule an interview but I missed the call. No biggie right? Call 'em back leave a message set up something later? Well, no. For gods know what reason these people call candidates one day and then have ALL the interviews for the position the VERY NEXT DAY (seriously who the hell does that?) no exceptions. Mind you, she mentioned NONE of this on the message she left. Which, baffles me.

The recruiter/scheduler called me just before I started work today and gave me the bad news. I was literally speechless, I was going to lose out on even a chance at the job just 'cause.

Anyway another phone call and some panic and despair later and I'm now in the block of to-be-interviewed people for an identical slot. The slot opened to the public yesterday so it'll probably be a month or so before I get the call.

Any humming, prayers, thoughts, or vibes to get through this with no more drama and ideally a job at the end of it all, would be appreciated. This has already been an...interesting... process. Here's hoping things go like clockwork and I finally get a big girl job! :D

Thank ye all for reading :P

I feel ya man. I don't have a big girl job either, but I do have two... somethings that will, with luck, be enough. I wish you find what works for you!

Thank you :D and likewise. I'm desperate for a real job partly 'cause I came home from work today (as a housekeeper for on base lodging, technically a federal job but the wages top out at $11 and I don't currently earn any benefits of any kind and never will until I move to full time...) to find a bill from my doctor's office for $85 on top of my monthly premium of $110... :(

Damn, that's some sh*t.

Everything happens for a reason? :( Hope this next interview is the only one you have to go to.

Would it be ugly of me to say it sounds like a low level management drone that has 20 years of lateral moves in their future?? :)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, that this job is exactly as advertised and you get it!  This is without a doubt the worst economy I've ever experienced; lots of qualified people beating the bushes.  Just keep that forward momentum, and know you will find something that works.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Well, I had the interview. But I can honestly say I have no idea how it went. My biggest concern is that I won't fit their hiring demographic 'cause I'm not officially disabled, yet they list chronic conditions as well, and I definitely have that.

So, I'm still looking and hoping to get a phone call.

So, I'm still looking and hoping to get a phone call.

Well I've been on call for them and have worked about four times in the past couple weeks, yesterday they told me they want me full time :D I had to fill out some additional paperwork and won't hear back until wednesday at the earliest but weee! Now, to tell my current employer the news... (full time w/benefits @ $5 more per hour so trumps this gig)
