Not going to be helpful in time. Or local sheriff's department is so far behind that after taking the class, it takes 90 days to get the appointment to get the fingerprints and background check, and once that's done, they have 45 days to get the permit into a person's hands. I (who am absolutely terrified of guns) already inquired.

YES.  Prayers and spells, while well intentioned, will only get you so far.  It falls to you to be pragmatic.

No, that it will not, it will however help should this ever happen again. Crime rates are going up, and they aren't likely to come down if the economy doesn't improve. We fingerprint at the class, that way students only have to mail in their paperwork. That can still take forever. In your state, do you have to have some sort of permit to have a gun in you home? If not take a  shooting class, then decide what you are most comfortable with. We do that at the range sometimes, providing beginners the opportunity to shoot a variety of different weapons. Armed defense is a last option, but it is nice to know that should everything else fail, it is available.

I agree with Randall.  In the 'fight-or-flight' reflex, flight ends up with more survivors than fight does.  The only time fight should be an option is if you're backed into a corner with no way out.

Find a safe place, Stephy, hope Zeke and Greg get there or to another one as well and pray that the cops do their jobs
