((((Aster, Roxy and family)))) I hope that she recovers and spends many more wonderful  years with you and your family. But if it is her time, I hope she passes peacefully and painlessly.

We've been trying to tempt Roxy to eat with yummy soft food -- I even found a line of broth-based cat food at the store last night, and I was hoping she'd at least drink that. But she's just not interested in food any more.

I know this is a completely natural part of life, and we won't let her suffer of course, but saying goodbye is so hard.

I'm sorry to hear this. It happened with one of ours too and it was really hard watching her go through it. When we finally took it upon ourselves to have her put to sleep, she was ready to go. It was still hard to say goodbye, but in hindsight we all (including our cat) knew it was time. I don't think it ever really gets easier seeing it happen, but I hope you (and Roxy) are able to pass through this trying time with as little pain as possible.

Thank you all so much!

I can't express how much I appreciate the love, support, prayers, and energies.

And they seem to be helping!! Roxy has been eating a little better in the last couple of days. I don't think she's lost any more weight, which is fantastic. She actually *asked* for food today!

I don't know if this is really a sign that she might be recovering, but at least I can feel confident that she's not in pain. And that's the most important thing.

Unfortunately, I have to go back to work tomorrow, and the next few weeks are going to be very busy. But I think one of the daughters will be home most of the time. So we'll just keep encouraging her to eat and making sure she feels loved.

Thank you, everyone!

If she's actually eating (and I'm sure you've considered this but I'm just going to through it out there anyway), sometimes cats develop an aversion to something in cat food when they get a bit older. It could be the same food they've been eating just fine for years, but it happens and it's fairly common.

My other cat, she's about 12 now, developed this recently. She stopped eating food altogether, the vet had no idea what was going on (at first we were terrified that her hypothyroidism had come back), and we tried a few different foods to try and tempt her to eat. Wet food worked alright, she would eat it, but she wasn't gaining any weight back on it.

In the end, I started giving her what I fed my hedgehog when he was a baby (Blue Kitten food - because high fat content is good for skinny cats), and she started taking to that. And then we found out that she would refuse to eat if she could see the bowl through the food... because she's spoiled... But she's doing better.

Anyway, maybe my mini-story can help in some way. :)

After a couple of weeks of her slowly shutting down, we feel it's time to help Roxy pass now, so we're taking her to the vet for the last time in 4 hours.  Please pray for her peaceful passing.  Thank you.

Thank you all.

Roxy's passing was as peaceful as that kind of thing can be. She was lying in my lap, with my husband and daughter on either side.
Thank you all for the prayers and support. It really helped a lot to know so many people were with us.
