Positive/Persuasive Vibes for Landlord Allowing Pets
« on: April 22, 2014, 09:43:32 pm »
Hi guys,

So... I feel a bit silly asking for this. But here it is.

I've been on a secret quest for a few weeks. I'm trying to convince my landlord to let me have a pair of rabbits. It's the home stretch now in my little quest, and I'd love to bring things to a mutually satisfying agreement/understanding.

A little background: he allows cats, but the first time I asked via a short note, he said no, on the grounds that "we have never allowed exotic animals before." I didn't give up, and wrote up a short letter, a page of information, a sheet detailing some of the purchases/measures I'd take to help ensure the care of the apartment, and, my ace, a detailed, formal pet agreement including the offer of $30 in pet rent and a to be-agreed-upon deposit.

I just spoke to him, and he said, "he'd think about and will get back to me," for the reason of the fact that it isn't "the rabbits themselves, but the fact that if we allowed you to do it, we'd have to allow everyone (the other tenants in my house) to bring in those kind of animals, and we don't really want to advertise that."

So. Thinking about it isn't no! But I want to make it a yes. I haven't had my own bunnies for almost ten years now. So I'd love a little extra oomph of persuasive/positive energy to help bring it all home.

Thanks, y'all.

I'm in. I keep reptiles and mice, and nowhere specifically allows or disallows them, and I understand your frustration. Here's hoping he's agreeable, there's no reason not to be.

It's not silly at all. Having persuaded several landlords that they really do allow cats, I can relate. Sending positivity your way!

First: Since when are bunnies "exotic" pets?
Second: What's wrong with "exotic" pets anyway?

Of course I will send you persuasive vibes.

*May Sarasvati feed you words of eloquence, and bring blessings your way, that good fortune may come to you.*

So uh...yeah...in other words, I hope you can talk him into letting you have the bunnies, and even better, reconsidering his policy.
KARMA: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Rabbits have always been classed under "exotic" in terms of veterinary care and pet insurance plans, because basically anything that isn't a dog or a cat is "exotic." :-/

This is actually why I love my vet - they only take cats and "exotics"...like bunnies.
