Missing: Charlie the Cat
« on: August 26, 2013, 08:13:39 pm »
One of my mother's cats, Charlie, accidentally got out of her house yesterday morning and has now been gone for more than 24 hours.  Yesterday, they saw him under their pool deck but he wouldn't come when called and now he doesn't appear to be under the deck any more.

Charlie is 8, a rescue, an indoor-only cat, and went missing at a former foster care home for long enough that he developed fatty liver and almost died.  My parents are, naturally, in a panic, as am I - he's a sweet but very skittish boy, and shouldn't be without food for as long as he has been.  In addition, he's declawed in the front and so isn't able to go up a tree or anything if he is threatened.

We've put out a Havahart and baited it with food and one of his blankets.  In addition, we moved his litter pan out to where we saw him last along with his favorite carpeted hidey hole in hopes that he'll smell something familiar and go to it.

Here's a photo of him:

Prayers that he stays safe and for him and my family would be very welcome.  Thank you.

Some years ago, my roomate's declawed cat got out.  We found her three months later, very skinny, but healthy.

Sending prayers for the cat's safe return.

He's in my prayers.

I understand how worried you are. One of our cats got out recently and was out for 5 days before we found him on the porch in the middle of the night. We'd put flyers in people's doors all around the neighborhood asking them to call if they saw him and to check their sheds and garages, in case he was trapped. He reappeared the next night.

I hope you find him soon!

Prayers going up for him and your family. Milo went missing for three days, not that long ago, and I was absolutely frantic. In the end, going around the neighbourhood and asking if anyone had seen him was the answer. Someone had him in their garage, realised, and let him out.

Any signs he got to the food?

I'd recommend to engage the neighbours, like Aster did.
I think he's alive, but scared and hungry.

Thank you, everyone.

UPDATE: Flyers have gone up around the neighborhood with instructions on what to do if someone spots him.  Yesterday, it appeared that he might have eaten some food from the garage feeding station, so here's hoping!

Another update - Charlie's been spending the night each night in the garage (verified by camera).  The plan is to keep moving the food bowl closer to the door until they're able to close the large garage door behind him without him running out.

It feels so much better to know he's okay and eating each evening.

That's very much like what happened with Merlin when he first came here. Eventually we got him home! Sounds like Charlie's in an OK position, with eating regularly and sleeping somewhere safe.

That's good news. I hope they can "trap" him soon.
