In need of prayers/energy/witchcraft to ease tooth pain

So I've got some major tooth problems -- one broken one and 4 wisdom teeth coming in -- and the pain is so bad it's now impeding my daily functioning. Very few painkillers work for very long.

I'm hopefully going to be getting to a dentist this week at least to extract the remains of the broken tooth. I haven't gone before now because I can't afford dental insurance or regular check-ups. I think there are local dental students, though, and I may be able to get an extraction on the cheap. I think I can make my paycheck stretch that far.

In the meantime, if anyone has any extra energy/prayers/witchcraft to send my way to ease the pain so I can get through the next few days, I'd really appreciate it.

Ooh, just went through this last week, definitely no fun.  Witchcraft/energy on its way.  When the painkillers didn't work for me, gargling unbearably salty saltwater helped for a while.

Have you tried oil of cloves? It wears off sooner than I'd like but does a good job of deadening the pain.

You've got it. I hope you can get it taken care of soon. In the meantime, I'm seconding the clove oil, saltwater rinses, and also try listerine. If you have any ibuprofen, taking 800mg (prescription level dose) every 6 to 8 hours can help.

I feel your pain, my wisdom teeth started coming in last year and it was horrible.  The pain definitely impeded daily functioning.  And I couldn't do anything until I saved up the money to have them extracted.  (((Morag)))  Sending prayers and thoughts your way!

Yup! I've basically been od'ing on the stuff. Gone through one bottle already and working my way fairly quickly through the next.

:nodnod: Been doing clove oil, baking-soda and water rinses (as well as apple cider vinegar), and the ibuprofen (400mg, liquid cap extra strength -- Ogre let me steal his bottle of them this weekend). Don't have any listerine, but do have ratanhia toothpaste and mouthwash, and that seems to help. Definitely far better than Crest or whatever "mainstream" toothpaste I have in my bathroom; that stuff seems to make the pain increase.  


My mom is getting me an appointment at the school of dentistry at the university. If they accept me as a patient it'll be a lot cheaper to go via them. In the meantime I'm continuing the clove oil and rinses and painkillers, and I'm trying to cut down my sugar intake...which had already been cut down a lot, so I'm basically trying to completely cut it out until I get the teeth fixed. Easier said than done.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and energy and hugs. It's been working; the past few days have been far more bearable.
