Brother, can you spare some peace of mind?
« on: September 08, 2012, 06:43:04 am »
I rarely post requests for myself but... I'm extremely stressed and depressed over our money situation. Hubs is still unemployed and we don't qualify for any more unemployment. I'm barely keeping us above water, but I'm getting the bills paid. I know that's status quo for a lot of folks, but this is all new for me.

So any sort of calming, clarity energy would be good for me. I've been working on cutting our expenses and doing other mundanity, but I just need a little metaphysical boost, too. We've always tended to be frugal, but I don't like being in a place where I have to eat ramen so I have gas money. (Right now the cats are getting better qualify food than I am.)

Thanks.

From someone who's been in this situation for a few years now, the best advice I could ever give to keep hold of your sanity is to remember to take care of yourself too. Take the time to indulge in your own interests (art, movies, music, whatever). The less time you spend thinking and worrying about money, the easier things get.

And remember, all things change with time. Things will get better. :)

I once started a poor-wo/man's cook book because I was getting frustrated and had trouble to find something cheap for a meal in the supermarkt. (without having spaghetti every other day). This helped a bit because I could collect a couple recipes and cook something different every day and had a plan of what to cook before I went into the supermarket.

I haven't had to cut the netflix, cable, or WoW accounts yet, so there's still that outlet. I'ma bounce something this week, though, unless I magically manifest another $50.

On the plus side, all the bills for this paycheck cleared today. And on an even better side, hubs got a call for a second interview at the Johns Hopkins outpatient center. So maybe that light at the end of the tunnel really isn't an oncoming coal-laden CSX train after all.

Whoa, do I ever know what you're feeling (but reverse it--TH is the one with the job now, and I'm the one without, still). I'll send you all I can spare.
