I wonder how it is that an “idiot” lives his life in such a a way that he becomes a multibillionaire and then president of the United States?

Nah I think what it is is that people are becoming so sensitive these days and leap at the opportunity to be offended by everything they can.  It’s like, if they declare they find something offensive they expect everyone to freak out with them.  So I think what happened here is that His Excellency Donaldus has offended so many of these oversensitive people who display such little control over their emotions that he’s created an avalanche of snowflakes.

Oh, in case it’s considered jargon on here:

Snowflake:
A very sensitive person. Someone who is easily hurt or offended by the statements or actions of others.

By being a blowhard and pandering to the ignorant? He's not exactly the paragon of animals.
Being born rich helped, though, I bet.

Aaaand then you have the other set... those who are such prolapsed pussies, they can't handle even the slightest criticism of God-Emperor Trump without jumping to gross mockery. "Hurr durr snowflake," they say. "Hurr durr oversensitive, drool drool offended. Muh freeze peach! Fuck your feelings!" Don't forget to add to sprinkle in the odd 'soy' and 'cuck' for extra beta points.

There is one main reason I voted for The Donald. I felt that he might...not certain, but MIGHT...be capable of making the right decisions for the right reasons. It was blatantly obvious that this is a qualification which both Clintons and Mr. Obama lacked.

I guess I'm not entirely sure how you think that Trump is making the correct decisions, if you still do, anyway. It's also quite possible that you and I are so fundamentally different that I wouldn't be able to fathom your reason behind your support of him, and you wouldn't be able to fathom my visceral distaste for him.

A lot of his policies, executive orders, and beliefs hurt the planet we live on and as someone studying Wicca and paganism I can't imagine how his actions could be agreeable with any of the things practiced in Wicca.

But whatever, man. It's fine if you voted for him (I can understand that, kind of) but if you still support him, then I just don't know.

I'm really not deeply invested in The Donald and I can't say that I'm happy with several of his choices and actions since the election. On the whole, though, I still do feel that he was a better choice than the only realistic alternative candidate.

However, for the elections coming up, there is an alternative other than the alternative candidate(s). I do believe in showing up at the polls to vote...but I do not believe in casting a vote for a candidate just because he has an "R", "L", or "D" beside his name. Not these days, at least. I have voted a blank ballot before, and it appears that I may be voting a blank ballot again in the near future.

In My Opinion, we're not voting ourselves out of this mess. My hope these days rests in the Lord.

By being a blowhard and pandering to the ignorant? He's not exactly the paragon of animals.
Being born rich helped, though, I bet.

It certainly unabled to set up his lifestyle of grifting.  (Basically his entire history has been lying about how much money he has to get people to give him money for projects, letting the projects fail, and walking away with the money.)

He got on the Forbes wealth list by claiming one of his father's businesses as his own, after all.  And has been known to scam contractors and vendors with "You know I'm good for it" refusals to pay anything in advance.  US banks caught on back in the 90s and stopped lending to him, which is why he started looking for capital abroad, including increasingly sketchy investors.

A poor man who wanted to pretend to be rich and successful just wouldn't be able to start running this scam.  Running a grift requires being able to buy into a seat at the table with the people who have the money you want, after all - wardrobe, manner, looking and acting like someone who has money.  A grifter knows that the real trick is throwing money around like it means nothing to spend that much, even if it's all they have; the amount they can treat as trivial is the benchmark for how much real money other people will give them.  Someone who can treat their last hundred bucks like it's meaningless can get a thousand, easy.  Someone who can treat their last five million like it's meaningless?

He's not an idiot; can't be an idiot and pull that off.  But he's absolutely looking for marks, and absolutely unskilled with anything that isn't essential for running the grift. His world is winners and losers and he counts points in who has less money, without any understanding that at government levels there aren't a finite set of poker chips or that "honestly buying goods and services" could be considered a win by both sides.

Problem with grifters is the marks hate admitting they've been had, and will continue to invest in the scam because it's less embarrassing than admitting a mistake.  And, unfortunately, there's a fraction of the US population who doesn't care how much they're scammed out of if racial (and other, but the racism seems to be his personal interest) minorities get scammed harder.

I suppose I'm just not clear on how Clinton was any worse than Trump. People point to her turning her cheek to her husband's sexual abuses, but then you can point to the abuses and alleged abuses of Trump himself. People pointed to the fact that Clinton was under FBI investigation, but then Trump was actually under investigation as well, and is currently still. People point to Clinton's racism ("bring them to heel") but then we also have Trumps long history of racism, and ableist behavior. Years of this, documented.

Then we have his policies... Or his "policies", because I honestly can't discern what his policies actually are besides "deport immigrants and build that wall, also dems R bad?" So I just dont know why Clinton is perceived as "bad" or "worse" than who we have as a president at this present time.
