Have to understand that the MN Amendment thing, even if the 'No' votes win, still doesn't allow gay marriage - there's a law on the books right now, the amendment was put up to "prevent activist judges from over-ruling the legislature"

Exactly. Of the 4, this is the one that's negative--banning same-sex marriage constitutionally, even though there's already a law against it.

Quote

And yes, I voted to put this damn thing in a hole - I even wrote my rep/senator in the state house when this was up for debate

THANK YOU!!!
(I paid some attention to the proponents of this amendment via the Internet, and boy, was that Cally Yanta person *annoying*!)
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

So, even if "we win", still no same-sex marriage in MN

The Vote No folks did such a huge amount of work, it was amazing and very heartening to see that kind of dedication.
And even if I were not personally invested in the outcome of this amendment brouhaha, I'd still vote against it because wow what a giant frivolous waste of time and money.

And now I will return to my fort made of blankets where I will be drinking anxiously and not looking at any news sites, nope, not doing it.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: No matter what happens with ballot initiatives, it's reprehensible in a free society that a minority's fundamental rights should be subject to majority vote.

I'll also add that I'm watching a couple of Senate races where misogynists are running (looking at you Akin and Mourdock) because I really abhor the idea that  those men might decide any issue about women's rights or bodies.

Akin AND Mourdock go down in flames! PLUS Elizabeth Warren wins in MA! Feminists, rejoice!

I'm reading off FB that Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin may have won (I'm reading conflicting reports because a portion of the ballots are not in yet?), which may make her the first openly gay US Senator in US history.

I'm holding off on that one, after AP called it for Baldwin and then retracted. Fox News (!) has called it for Baldwin, but I'm watching MSNBC, and NBC still hasn't called it yet. But I'm yearning for that historic moment.

Yeah, when I was watching CNN it was still projected, and CBC has repeated the same thing.

*waves a wee blue flag*

In other good news: Todd "Legitimate Rape" Akin and Richard "Rape is God's Will" Mourdock are both out.

Those two idiots probably hurt Romney more than the GOPhers will admit.

I'm waiting for the final count.  A couple of the 'battleground' states are still in flux.

According to MSNBC, the Romney campaign isn't conceding Ohio as going to Obama, so we'll see how that goes.

This feminist is rejoicing and happy dancing all over the place! Here's hoping we all have more to celebrate once the ballot initiatives come in.
