Clinton vs. Trump, round 3: The Final Conflict
« on: October 19, 2016, 08:39:50 am »
Putting this here now so that we can get a jump on the lamestream media before they can rig the debate. The system is so crooked. Believe me. SAD.
The first song sets the wheel in motion / The second is a song of love / The third song tells of Her devotion / The fourth cries joy from the sky above
The fifth song binds our fate to silence / and bids us live each moment well / The sixth unleashes rage and violence / The seventh song has truth to tell
The last song echoes through the ages / to ask its question all night long / And close the circle on these pages / These, the metamythos songs

Aaaaand for the folks who really want to take in the full politics-as-theater experience, you can watch the debate on a bigass cinema screen near you.

It's official.  Absurdity has landed.  The fourth wall is broken. The wheel thingy is broken at the cistern.  I'm not wearing any pants.  We're done.

Dat popcorn, tho.

(PS~ I'd totally do the cinema thing.  Popcorn.  Hip flask.  Perfect fucking date night.)

I'm watching on my own big-ass screen...and so far (though it's very early--the first 15 minutes) Trump isn't coming across as a crazy person, which is unfortunate, because he is.

Is it my imagination or has he changed his make-up?  He doesn't look as orange as usual.

He doesn't. He looks kinda bleary eyed though.

Perhaps he doesn't have the stamina for this.

...and so far...

So far the big winner is Chris Wallace. I'm loathe to admit it, since he's representing Fox (Faux) News, but he's doing a FAR better job than Lester Holt, Anderson Cooper, and Martha Raddatz combined. Granted, he has the benefit of learning from the others' previous mistakes, but no denying, he's killing it.

Clinton is playing a higher-level game than Trump. They may duel to a draw arguing over issues (not on facts, which favor Clinton, but that isn't always apparent)...but on presentation, Clinton clearly comes across as presidential, while she's letting Trump's unfit temperament shine through. And as he interrupts her and tries to talk over her, he helps her cement an overwhelming advantage with women--50% of the electorate.

I thought he did a very good job at reigning in both candidates and keeping Trump's Jerry Springer sideshow in the gallery quiet. I think tonight was her best debate. It took the Donald way longer than usual to start interrupting and sniffing like he's on bath salts, but when he did he certainly made a fool of himself. Name called, claimed the election will be rigged, and then eluded to not conceding to the will of the voters if it isn't in his favor.Come November 9th, there will be riots in the streets as much as he has keyed up his support base this past year.

They are both quite insane. I am legitimately afraid.

As a legitimately insane person, I am offended by that comparison.

I think I'd prefer beans.

I hadn't considered that. I suppose there isn't a word that is bizarre enough to fit them.

Frankly the way "crazy" is widely used as a shorthand for "I don't like them" or "I don't agree with them" (or "white person did something horrific" for that matter) is a huge part of the ongoing stigmatization of mental illness in American society and the way people talk about Donald Trump has made it clear that the left is hardly any better about it than the right.
