If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

"Witch Hunt!" 2
« on: July 12, 2017, 08:32:45 am »
Donald Trump--the same man who spent YEARS fueling the lies questioning President Obama's birth as an American citizen--now says that the Russian collusion investigations are the worst witch hunt in American political history.

He should know something about witch hunts; even before his lies about Obama, he led one of the most vicious witch hunts New York City had ever seen:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/feb/17/central-park-five-donald-trump-jogger-rape-case-new-york

"In 1989 five young black men were wrongfully convicted of raping a woman jogging in New York City. Leading the charge against them was a real estate mogul..."

I should add that as I recall, the Central Park Five were black and/or Latino. (So saying simply "black" may be inaccurate.) Interesting that both of these Trump-led witch hunts (Obama  and the CP5) were against people of color. From a man whose father led a real estate biz, in which he was actively involved, that went out of its way to discriminate against black people.

But he's got Omarosa and Dr. Ben Carson, so it's all good!

I don't believe I even remember the newspaper ad, but then I was in Texas and I doubt the ad made much news there -- the crime and to a lesser extent the trial did, of course. The ad doesn't surprise me, however, it's obvious that Trump is racist and has little knowledge of the constitution (e.g. the bit about no ex post facto laws).

Wow, thank you so much for posting this. I am too young to remember this story, but I will certainly bring it up when/if someone asks me why I think Trump is racist.

Now that's a witch hunt. I also recall Trump claiming he is the worst treated politician in history. Considering that multiple presidents have been successfully assassinated, I'm gonna go with that's bullshit.

I just find it hilarious when a rich, privileged, comfy-living white dude past retirement age who voluntarily spent tons of effort to gain a position that is notoriously difficult and will always cause people to hate you and want to kill you even if you're an infallible saint decides he's being persecuted through no fault of his own.

Like, dude, you could literally have retired and spent the last twenty years of your life playing golf and being ignored in peace and nobody would have cared or bothered you, but you chose this. Being criticized at every turn is part of the deal. I mean, if people are genuinely being unfair or are misunderstanding you, it's fine to clarify or rebut, but this whiny persecution-complex thing is unbecoming and unnecessary.

Exactly. I'm sorry, I can't see someone who volunteers to run for one of the most powerful positions in the world (and wins) as a victim.

Yep.  And I giggle when one of em-- ANY of em-- whinges over what they 'inherited.'
I'm like, "Naaah dude, you didn't inherit shit. You wanted it. You campaigned for and won it. Time to stop blaming your predecessor."

US politics: mildly absurd yet entertaining, most of the time.
Covfefe. It's my safe word.
