If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Thing with black eyes
« on: June 18, 2014, 07:19:15 pm »
I'm a High Priestess in a grove and one of my girls had a vision last night. We are doing all the research we can, but we are hoping someone else out there has had a similar experience and can help us out.
This is what she posted on tumblr:
Alright, so I'm a bit freaked out now and I'm hoping somebody can help…

I had a strange dream last night that wasn’t a normal dream. I don’t know how to explain it, but I know the difference at this point between a normal dream and a weird pagan dream that I really need to pay attention to. Most of it centered around a girl that I don’t know in real life, but I did know in the dream. In the dream we were sort of friends, but she was the type of awkward quiet friend who is always just sort of on the fringes of conversations and gatherings, the one you can never quite remember if they were there or not. We were in a hotel with a big group of people, celebrating something. The only other person I knew was a good friend of mine who is also a member of my grove.

The large group was divided into two, and each group would have rooms on opposite sides of the hotel. I ended up rooming with my grove member, and the girl I only knew in the dream was upset because she didn’t know anybody on her side, but we tried to reassure her. We all went to our rooms and went to sleep.

I heard a knock on the hotel room door and went to open it. .The girl was standing there, but there was something different about her. She wore a white dress and her hair was a mess, and she was standing very still except for a sort of weird swaying motion, looking at the ground. Basically the type of standing still you see in a horror movie when a possessed person gets out of bed and creepily stands over another person as they sleep, just watching them. I told her to go back to bed and closed the door.

Then, a little while later, there was a knock on the door again. I opened it and she was there again, but this time the hair was messier and the bottom of the white dress was torn up, and splattered with a dark red substance that I’m pretty sure was blood. She asked to come in and I refused, and then she tried to push her way into the room and I started to call for my friend while blocking her entrance. Then she looked up and her face changed. Her skin was inhumanely pale, and so smooth it looked like plastic. Her nose had gotten very thin and her cheekbones were unnaturally sharp. But the worst were her eyes. They had gone completely black no whites or anything, narrowed, and slanted a bit in their position on her face. She continued to try to force her way in, and it felt as though I couldn’t move and I went from calling for my friend to screaming out the name Ebony, which is the name of a spirit who is bound to her in real life. I don’t know why I was calling for the spirit, but I woke up with a jump before anything else happened.

Now this part could be just my freaked out mind playing tricks on me, but after I jumped awake I closed my eyes again and tried to relax. When I did, I felt the same very dark, evil aura that I had when the girl’s face changed in the dream. I opened my eyes thinking it would help me feel better, and when I did I saw her standing next to my bed looking down at me. It was only for a second or two, because as soon as I saw her I jumped, gasped “oh shit” and, in the stupidest response to something creepy ever, pulled my blankets up over my head. When I looked out from under my blankets, she was gone.

After that I went into my living room and waited for my friend to wake up. The same friend I was rooming with in the hotel in the dream, the one from my grove. We live together so it wasn’t like I had to go far to tell her. After I described the mysterious girl in the dream, she said it sounded eerily like stories of the black-eyed children, and the research I have done seems to support this. Unfortunately, I remain freaked out. I know it sounds crazy, but this is really not a normal dream and though I know it’s possible, I really don’t think that seeing her when I was awake was my mind playing tricks on me.

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody else had ever had an experience with these black-eyed children or anything else that she might have been. How did you get rid of her? Even if you haven’t had an experience, what would you do in my situation to try to get rid of whatever she is? I’m really freaked out, so any help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!

I've had night visitors before with red eyes and experienced sleep paralysis. They can be terrifying. I've been having sleep issues lately and it is very difficult for me to wake up. I'm going to do a banishing in my bedroom and set up a shrine to Sleep and Dawn.

Partway through the story I thought "black eyed kids." So, yeah, sounds like reading too many paranormal stories and creepypastas online.

Still, if she's uber freaked tell her to do some banishing rituals. (Why people just don't do this automatically after weird shit is beyond me.)

Or why not do something like the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram morning and evening if you attract "weird stuff"? The LBRP does not take long once you learn it, it's effective, and doing it regularly is good magical practice, so there is really no down side. Other general banishing rituals work too.

Why the need to be an asshole?
She had never heard of black eyed children until i mentioned them to her after her dream. so how can that be the case? Maybe you're the one reading too many paranormal stories and creepypastas online.

This seems like an enormous overreach of the definition of "asshole"

Also it is possible for people to pick up images and ideas without being aware of doing it consciously

That certainly encourages me to reply to your posts with suggestions...

Unless you have some association for what this is, anything specific would be grasping at straws. I agree with the above advice to banish.

I've done the LBRP in my sleep, so, yeah, seconding this. Good practice!

You and I have seriously different definitions of asshole behaviour, it seems. No malice intended. It's just a super common experience - possibly your friend heard something secondhand and forgot it? Had an episode of Monster Quest on in the background one night? Who knows?

My actual practical advice still stands: banish. If there's an actual entity, that'll fix it. If not, it won't hurt and is good practice.

Why the need to call names? She was clearly trying to help. As a note on the culture around here, we don't tend to automatically assume that it's always something freaky. A general word of wisdom would be, when you hear hoofbeats, rule out horses before you look for unicorns. As others have mentioned, it makes me uncomfortable with the idea of offering help or any kind of suggestions to your questions to see another person called an asshole for what looked to me like solid, practical advice. Obviously I'm not a mod and not telling you that you have to be civil to anyone. I'm just going to put it out there that when you attack people who are trying to help you, it makes it a lot less likely that people are going to want to help.

I've heard of black-eyed children, but this doesn't sound like any of the cases I've heard about. In all of those stories, someone was approached by these entities and they were trying to either get in the person's car or home, had to specifically be invited in, and seemingly attempted to compel the person to do so. And these encounters happened in waking time, not dreams.

Which isn't to say that there aren't more types of "black-eyed children", but that's what I'm familiar with in my readings.

Putting my paranormal investigator hat on, I'm inclined to believe that a nightmare is just a nightmare unless given reason to think otherwise. Does this friend of yours have dreams like this often? Has there been anything else odd going on in her house or happening to her or the roommate? If not, I'd just chalk that up to disturbingly creepy dream. I've had plenty myself (that I remember years afterwards).
