It's been going on for about a month now. And it doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it's usually at night or in the evening. And it's not just my window, it's my door, too. The first time, I heard something scratching at my door (it sounded like it was coming more from near the floor, so I figured it was the kitty) so I opened it, no kitty.

Then something knocked on my window at night. Looked outside, no one there. I even checked the ground to make sure a bird didn't fly into the window or something. (the way the knocking sounded it was like someone stumbled and their hand fell against my window to keep their balance, but then there was two or three knocks after that.) That window does have some small trees near it but they aren't close enough to hit the window. Not unless it was crazy windy out, and it wasn't, at all.

Then someone knocked on my door. (Again, at night.) Two clear knocks. I opened it, thinking it was my brother stopping by to say hi, there was no one anywhere around. It couldn't have been someone knocking and then hiding because I would have heard them.

Then just today, something knocked at my window. Two knocks. And I was looking straight at the window when it happened. And nothing hit it. No one was there.

It's not possible that it's a prank or anything like that. I don't feel like I'm in danger, sort of more like something is trying to get my attention? My house isn't haunted, I've lived here since I was 5 years old and this has never happened before. I even tried doing a reading to find out what it is that's trying to get my attention, and I can't get a clear answer. Does anyone have any ideas what it might be or how I can try to find out?

It could be the spirit of the house or those of the land you live on trying to get your attention. Have there been any drastic disruptions of the normal routine lately, like a construction or home improvement project? Have there been parts of the house or property you've been neglecting, or perhaps you haven't done a thorough cleaning in a while? Or maybe tensions have been high for those living under its roof and it's become unpleasant for the spirit. Hope you figure out what it is.

There's been plenty of construction and such in the immediate neighborhood over the years but nothing currently. The second two could be it, though? I'm not sure. It stopped  happening pretty much after I posted this, so I'm still not sure what caused it or why.

Thank you, though.

Might be worth doing a cleansing just to make sure nothing's lurking.

How old is the house? Do you have any recordings of the noise? Has the house in general been making more noise? What has the temperature been like when you hear the noises? What are the doors and windows made of? How old are they?

I don't live in a haunted house, either, but sometimes I'll hear loud knocks or pops at night, and it's just something in the house settling. They're not noises I hear often enough to just ignore, like the creaky floors.

Start keeping a little journal of when you hear the noises, if they return. Write down what the internal temperature is, what the weather/temp is outside, and humidity readings if you can get them. Also include what you were doing at the time, and anything else that might be interesting... moon phase, construction in the neighborhood, who was just over that day to visit, stressful situations, etc.

The journal will help you see if there's any sort of pattern to the activity, and that can help determine whether it's mundane or not. Trying to remember what was going on after the fact is inaccurate.

You could certainly try to do a banishing or a cleansing, but without an idea of what's going on it may be a waste of effort, or it may make the activity worse, or it may send along a beneficial entity that is actually trying to get your attention. If you don't feel like you're in danger, start keeping the journal and asking it what it wants when it does manifest. And write that stuff down too, especially if you start getting answers of some sort.

I don't remember offhand how old the house is... it's definitely not a new house, but probably about 50+ years, I'm thinking, so not old old. No recordings, it was just like, a quick tap/rap on the window. The house tends to make random creaking/popping noises occasionally (I think the second are from the heating pipes or whatever, though) but not more than normal. Temperature: average. Same with matarials, glass windows and wood doors.

It definitely wasn't normal house noises, though, those never sound like knocking on glass.

I need to do some kind of cleansing for my room because of the general mess, but that's probably going to involve more cleaning and less banishing. If there was something trying to get my attention, it didn't feel threatening, but nothing's happened since.
