Fairies and Fireflies: A one-time-only event
« on: June 19, 2012, 12:39:52 am »
I live in Huntsville, a military-based city in Alabama. It's not very big, but it's metro enough for two gay bars and five occult shops, if that says anything for its progress...anywho, I digress:
I was dropping a friend off in Hartselle, which is a small rural community about 45 minutes out of the city. Once we got there, we socialized in our friend's backyard, in a suburb in the outskirts of Hartselle. A strange phenomenon occurred in a small patch of woods near his house - a swarm of fire flies had light up the entire mini-forest into a living Christmas light show. I can not exaggerate to you the sheer amount of these little bugs. The number of them all flashing spontaneously truly lit up the place as if they were attached by electrical cords.

What does this have to do with fairies?
Growing up in a semi-urban community, I never had the chance to appreciate the small things like catching fireflies. Though I myself have never seen proof of fairies, I have never doubted the idea or existence of them, yet I've always associated the firefly heavily to them.

The woods alone made me question energy fields, and just what about that location attracted so many of the whimsical little bugs. Beltane has just passed, after all...
Also, when I tried to walk up to the woods, I felt very afraid. I did not want to go in. I knew that whatever was going on in the woods, I was not to be a part of. Also, none of our cameras or camera phones got clear shots of the phenomenon. It truly was a one of a kind event that I'll cherish for life.

Please share your thoughts or similar experiences. :)
