Lately ive been remebering something from my child hood and I wish to get peoples opinion on this memory when I was young around ten I was laying in bed when I turned over and looked out my open door. When inlooked I saw what was a large black figure well in a black cloak like a cloak made of shadows there was no face I could see. Like any child I was scared so I did what I was taught to do I hid u der the covers and said its not real its not real when I came from under the covers I looked at the door it was no longer there but was instead at the end of my bed just looking at me. I slept under the covers that night and ecer since then I have slept with my bedroom door closed im 20 and that was maybe ten or more years ago.

My question has anyone else seen anything like this before or does anyone know what it could be?
what it was has always haunted me and im hoping to find some answers

I've never seen anything like that. However, it could have been what I call as "astral critter" some "astral energy" which at least acts like it has grazing-animal-level intelligence. They are often attracted to areas where rituals have been done and not grounded properly. They can also be attracted to people who aren't grounded -- children with excess energy, for example. They seem to be harmless although downright spooky, especially if you aren't expecting them.

Hmmm seems likely though that does lead me to wonder if harmless why take on such a well intimidating precence

Intimidating is in the eye of the beholder. I'd call what you described "spooky". Of course, I'm over 50, not 10. However, it is possible it was something else as well. I'm just guessing based on the fact that it didn't actually do anything other than hang around (which is typical "astral critter" behavior).

Well ill admit now that im 20 if the same thing were to happen id probably try to talk to it. But thank you for the help

Generally, "astral critters" don't communicate but they sometimes look like they are "interested" when talked to.

I would agree with Randall's comments thus far with one exception. In my experience they are interested in communicating. It's just that images and words, the two primary reference points of human communication, are not things that they generally make use of in their "native tongue", which is primarily empathic. "Shadow people" probably are not the same as "astral critters", but then I've experience with the latter and have none with the former (and am not even sure that shadow people actually exist).

That's entirely possible. When I hear the term "astral critters", which is admittedly relatively new to me, it makes me think of a broad definition for the native denizens of the realms of thought, of which I would classify shadow people as a part based on my experience. But it's probable that I misunderstood your intended usage. If that is the case, then it's unclear to me whether Lunar Knight is speaking of an astral critter or a shadow being, either of which seems equally possible.

Hat man used to visit me, and I found him comforting if anything. I found out later that he's a pretty common shadow person (there's an article listing common ones for people to see on wikipedia, actually). I've had no luck intentionally finding him.

I would suggest sleep paralysis as a mundane explanation, but it doesn't sound like that was part of your experience.

If you're still scared, I'd ward your room however you see fit- salt, crystals, etc. According to my beliefs, throwing salt or red beans at him might get rid of him if he surprises you, and they're easy to keep by the bed. If you want to see him and figure out why/who he is, I'd try meditating on it.

Side note: Yeah, that happens - we call it, with great originality, 'Vanishing Quotes'. I see you figured out a solution - that works, as does pretty much anything replacing the omitted text; another, even simpler, fix is to hit 'enter' after you've deleted the text, and while the cursor is still between the opening and closing bits of quote code, so as to put the two bits on different lines.

The "astral critters" and "shadow people" suggestions are certainly possible. Other explanations might include a ghost or even a deity.

I grew up in a haunted house and there were plenty of what probably qualifies as "all of the above" in residence.

I received regular visits from someone I named Uncle Wiggly (after the wolf in the Uncle Wiggly game - showing my age now!) who would hang out near my bedside. He/it also would appear in the form of a black dog/jackal guarding the top of the stairs (which happened to be the most haunted part of the house). I'm not the only one who saw him or the other hauntings in the house.

Later meditations suggest to me that I was dealing with Anubis who was there to act as a guardian and to mitigate some of the nasty stuff that was going on in the house.

When I was a teenager I had a nightly visitor like that. He appeared as a dark man shaped mass at first, but I saw him from across the room without my glasses. Every night he got closer until he eventually came to the foot of my bed and one night he had red eyes. He looked like the Sandman from Neil Gaiman's graphic novel, just inked in with the red eyes. I only saw him when I was eighteen and I believe he was warning me. About two or three weeks ago I saw him again on the foot of my bed. I also experienced sleep paralysis that week. I only saw him that one night.

I also have an astral "friend" who looks like an ink creature with glowing blue eyes. This guy only asks me to "take him into the light" He shows up every now and then using my shadow as a portal. I started seeing him when I was a little child. Adults teased me for being afraid of my shadow.

I know this isn't your question, but I thought I should add that I also see a blue angel like figure watching my youngest son. This one has never said anything, but it does look at me sternly when I lose my temper with my son. I don't see that one all the time, but my son has an old soul feel to him and he is very grounded for a five year old.

As you can tell I use my third eye extensively.

I've heard a lot of theories; they're demons, astral travelers, aliens, etc. They never scared me, they seemed to be afraid of me. They would disappear when I would look at them, almost instantly; except for a few. I've seen one "run" right in front of me and disappear into my closet. I haven't seen them since I was like 12 but it would be interesting to see them again I think. I theorize that they're spirits from another dimension that have never been human.

Same here. I called him "de engerd." It means the creepy guy in dutch. Very terrifying for a Child. I had no idea this was so common until i got older and the Internet appeared!.
