Integrating animism and a rational worldview
« on: July 20, 2018, 06:48:47 pm »
So i did my Reiki 3 degree the other day, during the workshop i worked with the "spirit of ginger". Apparently its a shaman technique called plant spirit medicine where you communicate with the spirit or energy of in this case a piece of ginger and work with the energy for healing.

I got a strong feeling of energy burning my intestines and nausea by just holding the ginger and dabbing it against the area over my clothes.

Then my teacher had me ask the spirit of the ginger what i needed to heal...the answer was "water". I dont know what that was refering to tbh.

Still... this experience was quite eye opening and i now find myself wondering how integrating plants having spirits i can communicate with into my worldview is possible? Feel a bit lost and in need of guidance.

Since this workshop i have drawn the Tower in a random tarrot card draw and encountered the number 77 that was presented in a significant way ie on a number plate with my initials at a precise moment where i looked up at a car that felt special.

"Angel Number 77 indicates that you have listened to Divine guidance and are now putting that wisdom to work in your day-to-day life".

My comment is more a reaction to your thread title about reconciling rationality and animism -- have you looked into pantheism?

The suggestion I have is an aphorism from my tradition, which I'll leave for you to think about:

"Perceive first.  Then believe."
as the water grinds the stone
we rise and fall
as our ashes turn to dust
we shine like stars    - Covenant, "Bullet"

no but its probably something i should research. Ty  :)

Yeah almost like a one day at a time analogy to new experiences.

What is the tradition you are referring to Darkhawk?
