If you get an "Unable to verify referring url. Please go back and try again" error when you try to log in, you need to be sure you are accessing the board with a url that starts with "https://ecauldron.com".  If it starts with https://www.ecauldron.com" (or "http://www.ecauldron.com") you will get this error because "www.ecauldron.com" is not technically the same website as "ecauldron.com". Moving to the more secure "https" means it is more picky about such things.

Question on some odd occurances.
« on: March 31, 2013, 09:46:14 pm »
Over the past few years I have been seeing foxes. like four or five every spring or fall, including some that have been acting oddly, such as sitting down and staring at me from the side of the street while I am at a stop sign in my car, or popping in and out of my path as I walk down a street, or just randomly popping up in the middle of the day.

I never feel anything bad or negative about them, more of an oddness at there continued and extended presence.

I was wondering if anybody knew what the significance of this phenomena might be. One friend said it might be a spirit animal trying to contact me, another said it might be a bad omen, and google just brings up so many things that it becomes confusing and a bit overwhelming trying to sift through what may be useful information and what might just be hogwash (for lack of a better term.)

Any help would be appreciated as having this happen over multiple years has finally bludgeoned into my thick skull that I need to get this figured out.

Well, I hate to burst your bubble here, but foxes usually give birth in the spring and have kits to hunt for, and fall is when young adult foxes go looking for territories of their own. Chances are, they're just foxes being foxes, and it doesn't have anything to do with you. You just happen to be where they're active.

No bubble burst. I wouldn't have even noticed it if it wasn't for the odd behavior. I personally have never known any wild animals in my area (besides the deer, and the occasional seagull) to come so close to cars much less stop and stare at them for an extended length of time. or come so close to the housing developments and roads.

I have - skunks and raccoons downtown, but when I was in a residential area we would sometimes get coyotes. (Growing up we had bears, but that was in a little town and not a major city.) It's generally because they're looking for food, and human beings tend to do dumb things like leave their garbage outside where animals can get into it.

Still, if you personally feel a connection to the animals, it can't hurt to study up on them both as animals and in myth. I can't think of why they'd be a bad omen though, unless the poor things were rabid.

Some light reading for you that you may be interested in. Only you can really be sure if the fox sightings are a message or an omen, and only you can decide if it's negative or if they have something to tell you.

It could be simply that fox's are common in your area and they've ceased being shy around humans. Or it could be that it's a messenger or a totem animal of yours trying to get you to take note. If it really becomes a prominent "feel" in your everyday life, it's worth checking out.

I don't think those behaviors are that unusual -- especially around foxes who are "used to" humans. Sitting at staring is something I've seen foxes do in the wild as well.
